3.0 out of 5 stars Poor Value March 28, 2012
By Jocelyn
Amazon Verified Purchase
I already wrote a large and detailed review as to why this product is a poor value and suggesting lots of better options, but it is no longer here, sorry to all interested, but I don't feel like trying to recall and rewrite at this time.

Edit

OK, ready to try to rewrite my review. First off, when I purchased it was required to leave a review to unlock one of the games, I did not like this in a paid app one bit. This seems to have been removed. Next is the games. 3 of the 9 are available for free in the demo version. Another one is available for free in the Barnyard Games demo version, only there it is listed as ages 2+ and here as 4+, odd. This leaves 5 unique games for 2 dollars.

One of these games is a puzzle game that is the worst puzzle game we own, there are many free options that are much better such as the Kids Puzzles series as well as Kid's Love Puzzles. These apps control much better and have a lot more variety and actual difficulty levels. My 2yo can do 24 piece jigsaw puzzles independently, so a little 4 piece puzzle is boring for him. Pieces that snap back to the original position whenever pressure is not well maintained make the game very frustrating.

Another game is the memory game. There are tons of these available for free. Try Kid's Match'em, Giraffe's Matching, or Animal Memory for nicer looking free options.

This leaves 3 games for my 2 dollars. Addition, Subtraction, and Spelling. My son is too young for the spelling and subtraction, so I can't comment on the them too much. They seem to be made well enough. The addition game is fine. I would add an equals sign, but it works as inteded and is easy enough for my son to use.

I just don't think that the 3 remaining games are a good value at 3 dollars and that is all I really got for my purchase.

My final complaint is the praise. I have my degree in the field of psychology and have worked with children for years and I am against constant praise due to the negative effects it can have. Just wish I could either turn it off or that it was more intermittent and less over the top.

That about sums up what I remember from my original review. I hope this one doesn't dissapear too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good, educational kid game May 14, 2012

My 3.5 year old loves this game and has no issues getting through it alone. I would recommend. It is a step up from Monkey Preschool Lunchbox. It has matching, letters, counting, puzzles, shapes & colors for the 3 yo. Alphabet, addition, spelling, subtract for older kids.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Pre-K App I Have Seen! October 29, 2012

I'm a kindergarten teacher and I use technology a lot in my classroom. Apps designed like this one are great for centers and incentives for good behavior/hard work! I just can't say enough about how wonderful this app is! It teaches very basic alphabet, counting, addition, subtraction, and more! I love that the difficulty is adjustable for most of the games - it works well to differentiate. I started with the free version and after seeing how wonderful it was, I quickly bought this one to unlock the other games. Thank you for such a wonderful learning tool! :) Can't wait to try more of the developer's apps!

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good app.
This is a pretty good app. It does freeze up sometimes. All in all it was worth the 99 cents!
