My Childhood,
By "xhabelle" (British Columbia, Canada) - See all my reviews

Not only is Paul Janz's musicianship incredible and his lyrics compelling, couple that with the fact that most of the instrumentation was done by Janz himself, and this makes for a terrific album. Not quite sure what to expect but having an idea of his work, I purchased this album recently only to discover that every song brought back vivid childhood memories of rollerskating to juke-box music on warm summer nights in the eighties. It has some great 'classic' eighties elements, including extroverted guitar solos and swingy brass interjections here and there, but this music can be thoroughly enjoyed by all generations because it has a distinct timeless appeal. Some of my favourite parts of this album are the shining moments when Janz's gospel background come through. My favourite song is "Believe in Me."

Paul Janz is great. I have 2 of his other albums and his voice is superb in every song. I would say that he is in a similar class to Richard Page from Mr. Mister. His phrazing is beautiful, no wonder because he is a bit of ascholar of beautiful music. Every track on this album is heavenly. Buy it , you wont regret it. But please "amazon" make available all his other recordings, it's a shame for talent like this to be neglected as he has been recently. Thank you for reading this and long live good music.

Well every great song of Paul's is here. And if you don't recognize some of them, they will soon become favorites! I'm teaching my kids to appreciate classic, good music, and Paul Janz fits the bill. God Bless, you, Paul.
