4.0 out of 5 stars Very Helpful -even for an experienced trainer/presenter !, October 10, 1998

This review is from: Present Yourself!: Capture Your Audience with Great Presentation Skills (Paperback)
I picked up this book on vacation. It reads well with a format more like a "how-to" book. I found that, even though I am a professional trainer and consultant with "many" years of public presentations to parents, educators and administrators under my belt, Mr. Gelb's suggestions for improving my skills have been very helpful, easy to implement and effective.. I have recommended this book to our CEO for all our consultants. I have used mind-mapping for all my presentations and projects... can't sing the praises loudly enough!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic book for professional speakers, September 18, 1998
This review is from: Present Yourself!: Capture Your Audience with Great Presentation Skills (Paperback)
Outstanding book! Clear and concise ideas on how to take the terror out of public speaking. The book explains how to mind-map a presentation in detail so it's easily understood. There are so many "How To's" that it is one of the books I recommend to incoming speakers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Two for the Price of One, July 8, 2007
This review is from: Present Yourself!: Capture Your Audience with Great Presentation Skills (Paperback)
This book by Michael Gelb, who is himself a truly excellent presenter, is really two books in one.

Chapter 2, Map Your Mind, is hands down the very best description of the why, what, and how of creating mind maps that I have ever read.

Mind mapping is one of my favorite techniques for capturing ideas as they emerge from the creative (right) side of the brain in an effortless and fun way that completely avoids the problems caused by traditional linear methods of outlining or note taking. I use it personally and in my work, and I teach it to others who want to access their creative potential and, in the process, dramatically enhance their thinking, writing, and public speaking.

The rest of this gem of a book uses mind mapping to illustrate the principles of effective presentation that have made Gelb such a well respected and effective speaker.

Whether you need to improve your presentation skills or you want to learn one of the very best ways to harness your creative potential (i.e., mind mapping), this simple and elegant book is for you.

Robert E. Levasseur, Ph.D., author of "Breakthrough Business Meetings: Shared Leadership in Action"
