This review is from: MoGo Presenter Mouse X54 for Express/54 Laptops (MG-303-01-002-01) (Personal Computers)
The X54 Pro is a great work of engineering. They managed to fit a full tray of functionality into a tiny card sized mouse. While not as comfortable as a full-sized mouse, the X54 is actually quite light and easy to use. Pointing feels precise and easy. Three button free moving operation is a nice step up from cramped trackpads with 2 buttons. Even though it doesn't weigh very much, it still feels solid in the hand. And driverless operation is always a plus.
Similarly, as a presenter this mouse is great. Comfortable, small, functional... the built in laser is a great touch. It's basically everything you could want in a bluetooth presenter. Of course, the biggest feature of the mouse is its ability to store and charge within a PCI-Express slot on your laptop. The mouse is hidden away in my laptop except for the very tip of the end nub, which uses LEDs to show charging status. Whipping it out is a momentary task, and the mouse is ready to use almost instantly. While I've been too lasy to drag around my other notebook mouse, this one is definitely getting some use. There are only really a few issues that I would bring up in the functioning of the mouse. One, the inclusion of the touch strip scroll wheel is a welcome addition, but the actual implementation seems off. Scroll speeds are jerky and unpredictable, and it frequently gets the direction of the scroll wrong. Second, the mouse has light which blinks to let you know which mode it is in. It looks pretty, but the annoying constant blinking light has a way of drawing attention towards the mouse and away from whatever you're trying to present. I can't speak to the long-term durability of the mouse, as it hasn't been released for very long. This review may be revised downward in the future if longevity issues arise. But for the moment at least, I've finally found a notebook mouse / presenter that I can actually use. A great Sophomore effort from Newton Peripherals.

I have hated carrying bulky wireless around with me when I travel. This little card which fits in the computer is fantastic. No worrying about batteries running out, plugging in a wireless adapter, etc.
On top of that it operates powerpoint presentations flawlessly and provides a laser pointer to boot. I don't know how I managed without it. Highly, highly recommended. My only complaint --- the scroll wheel function is a little sensitive --> I haven't tried to manipulate the sensitivity yet in "Control Panel", but that is likely also adjustable.

I love this product because I don't have to carry a bulky mouse around. I love how I can recharge the device by plugging it into my pci.
However, the biggest problem is its sensitivity. Whenever I select the scroll button, it automatically scrolls down. I figured that I account this problem to not being use to the sensitivity. It's been two months and I'm still having the same problems. I have made sure to select the middle of the scroll area, but I'm still having the same problems. I can't adjust the settings, so I'm SOL. Also, at times I find that I loose the Bluetooth connectivity between my laptop and the device. I don't necessarily have to connect the device, but it does take a while before the two are connected. Overall, a good device but still needs improvement. FYI: Running Vista SP1 and a Dell XPS 1530

Great Travel Mouse - and Great for Power Point Presentation too,

Have an older Mogo mouse on PC card, and w/ new laptop, new Mogo mouse...
Found all welcome improvements on this one. Positives --------- 1. Laser (old PC card was LED) -- works on most surfaces, even black. Just does not work well on glass (or really glossy) surface as suspected. 2. Separate on/off button, so that it works flat (without using the stand lifted). Sometimes using it flat is better in a tight spaces. 3. Scroll -- works well and as expected. Much needed improvement. (see below for Power Point Presentation Tips also). 4. Integrated media (play/stop/mute, forward, backward, volume) mode works well w/ my HP media laptop connected to TV or playing my itunes music. 5. Although not marketed as Presentation mouse, great w/ Powerpoint (and PDF full-screen) presentation. - Put Powerpoint (or PDF in full screen, ctrl-L) in presentation mode. - left button to forward (as any mouse) - scroll up (presentation slide backwards), if you need to back up. - scroll down (slide forward). WARNING: do not go past the last slide. - Scroll up/down, using default settings, offers just about right level of sensitivity to use it in a business presentation. - No laser, but that's ok. I prefer having this mode AND the media control than the presentation version of Mogo mouse. 7. Obvious benefit of having your really usable mouse always charged and with you. Negatives --------- Really none. Even price I paid was equivalent to normal laser mouse retail price (not sale). Neutral ------- 1. Stating the obvious, make sure you have bluetooth on your laptop end, or 2. go purchase a small (marketed as nano) bluetooth USB module between $5 ~ 9.99 on sale. Tip: try to get one based Broadcom or CSR chip (most are), if identified in the packaging. These offer most compatibility (or least compatibility related issues).

A+ Concept But Compromised Usability,
This review is from: MoGo Presenter Mouse X54 for Express/54 Laptops (MG-303-01-002-01) (Personal Computers)
If you're into high-tech luxuries, you're probably irresistibly drawn to the extreme novelty of this mouse: its cool-factor is definitely off the charts. In terms of practical use though, I have very mixed feelings about it. As a PowerPoint controller and laser pointer, it's great, and if your living requires you to give a lot of presentations from your laptop, the stow-away form factor of the Mogo mouse gives it the edge versus other Bluetooth presenter devices.
As a mouse though, it's far from perfect, and frankly, it doesn't come close to the comfort and precision offered by prototypical mice. The Mogo mouse's flat form factor makes it awkward to use and the chassis flexes a bit whenever you click its buttons. The tracking can also become a little jumpy once in a while, but this is a very typical problem that I've experienced with many different brands and models of BT mice on various computers. The mitigating factor in my gripes is that the Mogo mouse is not meant to be a replacement for a home mouse, and this is true. Still, I just wanted to make it explicitly clear that you're probably compromising comfort and usability for ultimate portability with the Mogo mouse. In my case, in the 3 months or so that I've owned it, I very rarely use the mouse functionality of the Mogo and find myself just using the God-awful pointer stick on my laptop because the pointer stick offers better control and tracking, in general. Even in retrospect though, I still can't give the Mogo anything less than 4 stars because it really is a neat device and works very well as a presenter and at least serviceably as a mouse. As a final note, I've used the Mogo Presenter Mouse in both Vista Business SP2 (32-bit) and Windows 7 Professional Build 7600 (32-bit), and the device works in both presenter and mouse modes without problems. Bottom line from me: get it if you value portability above all else and/or just like cool toys; otherwise depending on your needs, there are better and/or less expensive devices out there.

awesome,
This review is from: MoGo Presenter Mouse X54 for Express/54 Laptops (MG-303-01-002-01) (Personal Computers)
I wanted to buy one of these little guys for quite some time now, but the price was a bit steep. I ended up buying this little guy at a computer trade show for cheap, but decided to put a review here since it's such a great little device. Mine came with the bluetooth/USB adapter, but since my HP mini 2133 laptop has bluetooth built into it, I don't need the adapter. When I first held it in my hand, I thought to my self, "This feels so ridiculously small, it's gonna' be a pain to use, why did I impulse-buy it?". By the time I got my laptop to recognize the mouse and "pair" to it, it was sooooo comfortable to use, it felt very natural. The touch scroll center section of the mouse has pretty crappy control as many have said in other posts/comments. I am very happy with it since I always have my mouse right at hand, and I don't have to dig in my laptop bag to find it or the dongle, and there are no batteries to suddenly die. Great product, but would like to see the few minor anomalies fixed. Plus it makes for one hell of a conversation piece when you break this out on a commuter train....

The mouse paired with my computer in no time at all. While in my express 54 slot it charged very quickly and was ready to go. Just push and it clicks/pops out.
Mouse: The optical laser on this thing is so precise. I can put it on my right leg and use it. It is that precise. The left and right click are perfect also. The scroll is taking some time to get used to - it is no wheel but that is really no big deal. Presenter: Now, with the click of a button underneath the mouse turns into presenter mode. With ease you can switch through slides in say PowerPoint or whatever you are using. Also, there is a laser pointer which is so key today when presenting. I can't be happier with this product. Great price too compared to the manufacturers website.

This is a great backup mouse. The design is elegant and it tucks into the port perfectly for travel, but it's clumsy on function. It works, but in it's own time. I found myself hauling my bulky optical mouse on the road for most of my work, but work with the Mogo when I want attention.

Too sensitive in presentation mode,

A little bit too sensitive during presentation mode, I always accidentally close the powperpoint during the presentation. Also sometime the slide will not change when you hit "next," but sometimes it will jump couple sildes when you hit next. However, it is really convenient.

I'm using my MOGO X54 presenter mouse right now with my desktop setup. It's small but feels just right in your hand. The features packed into a credit card sized mouse are just amazing. I especially like that I can switch from a scroll mouse to a presenter and laser pointer. I use my MOGO all the time on the road for presentations and even at my docking station. If you dont have a MOGO your missing out. Highly recommended product.
