Some context: I've debated, acted in plays and done presentations in various forms all my life and won awards consistently. I've also read 100+ books on speaking/presenting/influencing such as influence by cialdini, art of rhetoric by aristotle, nlp books, dale carnegie.

However, this book is by far the best book i've ever read on presenting.

There are priceless ideas and exercises in here for
1) Managing how you feel.
2) Managing the audience's state i.e. how they feel.
3) Keeping different types of people involved i.e. people with different representational systems (visual, kinesthetic, etc.) and different attitudes (why do this, how do we do this, etc.)
4) A great structure for presentations.
5) Energy Level
6) Developing rapport with the audience.
7) Going into a state which is ideal for presenting.
8) Using open ended stories (open loops) to increase audience's curiosity etc.
9) Reading the audience

Do read this book - it's a piece of art. And it'll definitely help you get much much better results and have more fun when presenting and interacting with people.

This is an excellent book. Probably the only one you'll need if you want to know about NLP and want to be a good presenter at the work or church. The book has plenty exercises and it is well written with just enough pictures, small chapters and deep subject with clear and concise explanation. I give it 5 stars, and I have read it many times and never get tired of reading it.

This book was recommended to me by a friend and I shall be indebted to that person the rest of my life. As a professional presenter I constantly need to review my delivery techniques and look for ways to add impact for my audience. This book turned out to be an amazing assest in that regard.
I tried two techniques right after finishing the book and was amazed at their efficacy. I try to add one more during each presentation. If your serious about improving your ability to relate to groups (or individuals for that matter) buy and use this book. It is indeed magic.

The best I have read on how to develop your own Presentation Skills. What irks me most is the negative review that one reader has given. Obviously the reader does not make presentations very often and has no idea how important and practical the contents of this book are.

Do not listen to naysayers. This book delivers what it promises. This book transends college text books and move you into the realm to really powerful presentation. If you are truly looking to improve your presentation skills, then get this book.

I am a professional speaker and have had the pleasure of being trained by both David and Tad. I was amazed at how well they were able to capture the Trainer's Training experience in their book. "Presenting Magically" is, without a doubt, the best book available to transform a person's presentations to the world-class level. Joseph Craig, Ph.D.

"You don't have to put on your presentation suit or your presentation personality"
- being you is all you'll ever need. What a welcome relief to hear this from the authors. As a voice coach and presentation skills trainer, this is something I constantly encourage.


My personal feeling is that this book is not for the novice presenter, but it does offer a different and powerful approach to the art of presentation, through NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming). I would also say that some prior knowledge of NLP would be useful.

The book does offer undeniable advice, but it would be a challenge for any reader, sitting alone trying to figure it all out. I felt a practical course (on Presenting using NLP) is nearly imperative with this book. This is a book you'll dip in and out of over your presenting career.

What is the theme of the book?
The author describes the NLP approach to presenting as an attitude of mind rather than a set of techniques. The key message they strive to communicate throughout the book is encouraging "a presenter to be comfortable with being themselves. The book also explores and challenges the reader on personal limiting beliefs. Readers are questioned about that "fear" of presenting and we are given an insight into addressing insecurities and fears. This book at times is very thought provoking.

What I found valuable - Presence, Energy, Rapport
The book offers powerful techniques on how to establish strong presence, and positive energy with an audience. I thought the techniques on mental and physical preparation were excellent. I liked the sense of "being at one with the room. There is great insight into rapport, and audience connection.

Something different - Language & Structure
The book introduces an interesting angle on language usage (using NLP). If you are curious about the language skills of charismatic presenters you'll find some highly interesting insights in these chapters. Presenters are encouraged to develop presentations using metaphors, and are advised towards a simplistic approach to language, structure and content - "most of the big things in life are simple".

I'd recommend this book to experienced presenters or people who already have a basic understanding of NLP.

I really like this book. This is not an easy read and throw on you shelf book, this a read and reread and reread guide to the practice that will make perfect. Really enjoy the book and glad I bought it.

This book is a tough read, but has some very valuable information. The front side of the book is laborious to read and doesn't share a lot of new insights into presenting. But, if you can get through the core of the book, the backside has some hidden gems. Maybe a second time through would bring the front of the book more into perspective. Overall, as American Idol Randy Jackson says, "It was just alright."

Do you give Trainings or Presentations for a living? This book will give you an edge over any competition you may have thought you had. To get the results you imagine, you DO need to make a commitment. Are you ready for that? It does help to have a basic awareness of NLP, but it is not totally necessary. If you can practice with some peers, LOOK OUT.
