Crazy and bubbeling fun,
By
This review is from: Presents Crazy Hits (Audio CD)
My 6 year old son started babbeling about afrog that said "ring ding ding" and I went "huh?". Then one day he started humming Axel F and I put on the original - much to his dismay "'tis isn't the right version mum!"
Now we're both hooked on the crazy frog hype. It's fun but hardly longlasting. The kids luv it and as parent's we get a rare opportunity to actually KNOW the songs our children like. I can highly recommend it.

So what's your ring tone?,

Imagine, a whole album that sounds like your worst cell phone nightmare! Listening to this album in its entirety is like being trapped in a crowded room with everybody's cell phone going off, one at a time, for eternity, while having bamboo sticks pushed up under your fingernails.
As a gimmick album it's great fun, and some of the songs have hooks that will stick in your brain and have you humming them at inopportune moments. Be warned however, that only the brave or foolhardy will attempt to listen to the whole thing in one sitting. The best track is the Brit-hit "Axel F", a totally loveable adaptation of the Harold Faltermeyer `80s instrumental classic, and the main reason for buying this album. Fortunately, you can also find it on Now Music 61, and get a much better package to go with it. Other tracks that will stick in your earwax are perennial favorite "Popcorn"; dance number "Pump Up the Jam" (when last have you heard that one?); the perky "Pinocchio"; the "Dallas" theme; and of course the theme from "The Pink Panther". Listen to it in bits when you're feeling down, and be prepared to either bounce madly around or throw your cell phone out of the window. Amanda Richards, September 10, 2005

I bought this CD for my Dad?s birthday,I listened to it myself in Mum?s car, and it?s actually quite good! (and funny). It includes his latest single "Popcorn", and his No.1 hit "Axel F". THE CRAZY FROG IS NOT ANNOYING AT ALL!

I first heard of the "Crazy Frog" on the internet in May 2005. Since then, I now have downloaded 100+ "Crazy Frog" files, ranging from wallpapers, animations, video clips and mp3's. I do not think the Crazy Frog is annoying, so I brought this CD. I also have the singles "Popcorn" and "Axel F" singles as well.
In my belief, if one buys a diversity of CD's like I do, there is a place for this CD. I own it now, and I like it lot! It is certainly not in my top 20 CD's I have ever brought, but is is far from the worst! I own CD's ranging from Classical to Children's music, techno, trance, electronic, rock, pop, 1980's, Hip hop, commerical to 40, obscure stuff, golden oldies and everything in between!

I bought, listened and enjoyed a great amount. The popular hit around here (Axel F) got me interested, so I bought the CD. Definately was a great decision on my part and this CD is highly recommended by me.
BTW, I thought that track 16 (Funny Sounds...I believe) was hilarious, my girlfriend and I were laughing up a storm when we were listening to that. Ohh and the enhanced part with the music video's is great as well. Gotta love that Popcorn video!!! 2 Thumbs Up = 5 Stars from me!

4. Whoomp! Nice modern Dance Hall "riddim" to it.
6. Bailando - Nice to listen to, kinda uplifting - has pretty decent low-end bass notes (U won't hear it on a boombox). Other songs are decent, u just have to bear with the froggy sounds once in a while.

I picked this up at the public library, not really knowing anything about this group, other than I saw a fellow musicial scholar list them as an influence in an ad looking for bumchums. I was pleasantly surprised by this release which just connects on so many levels, from Kraftwerk like electronica to 70's conceptual Floyd-isms to Beatle like pop (well actually more reminiscent of Klaatu than the fab four), all with amazing production. A series of lush sonic landscapes with some great vocal harmonies, it mixes pop, electronica and progressive influences to wonderful effect. Pink Floyd is an obvious influence, particularly the clean, spacious production and harmonies of Floyd's 'Dark Side of the Moon' period.
Ignoring a ridiculous cover that looks like a progressive rock-from-hell exercise, this is really haunting electronic music. More so than Radiohead, this Crazy frog really does blend effective mood music and cynicism with panache. This album makes me hate people. Not because of any ideology or spirit contained within the work, but because when people speak about it it somehow manifests their basic ineptitude for all to see. Either they are not sensitive enough to catch "irony and kitsch," or they are incapable of seeing anything else. And, while we're at it, there's nothing that makes my fingers grope more frantically for something to strangle than a person who criticizes something for being "scary," "happy," "clinical," or any other such thing. All you are doing is criticizing scariness, happiness, or precision, not the music itself. You would have people believe that something sucks because it effectively conveys an emotion that you don't enjoy. If you want to rate a work, take a look at what it is trying to do, and then try to determine whether or not it does so. If you are incapable of doing this, then either refrain from comment, or, if you are so seriously limited in your abilities, immolate yourself. |
