Great Reference Book,
By Anne McKenzie Nickolson (Indianapolis, IN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Preserving Textiles: A Guide for the Nonspecialist (Paperback)
As a textile artist and textile conservation technician, I know that people often make serious mistakes when dealing with old textiles. This book gives collectors the opportunity to hear from experts how to store or exhibit their objects without harming them. For the more ambitious (and courageous) it gives guidelines for safely cleaning textiles and stabilizing damaged areas. This book is well organized, clearly written in plain language and with beautiful illustrations and photographs that will help the reader visualize the techniques described. It would be a valuable resource for any serious collector or for anyone with an attic, closet or cedar chest filled with neglected treasures.
