President Barack Obama Collectible Action Figure

I purchased this immediately after the inauguration of our 44th President. It was my own personal way of celebrating the historical occasion. DiD is a company known for producing quality military figures and accessories, and they've done a remarkable job of creating a 1/6 scale version of President Obama. The figure comes with three sets of hands, two heads, a real wooden stool, mirocphone and a US flag complete with a stand and tassels. His clothing is a bit wrinkled coming out of the package, but I ironed it and redressed the figure so that it is now more presentable. The shoes are of good quality and have real laces. You have a the choice to dress him in a red or blue tie, and they've even given him a flag lapel pin and dress watch. The figure has pretty good articulation. Keeping in mind that the he's not intended for "action", the level of articulation is good enough to strike presidential poses. The head sculpts look much better in person that the internet images. The likeness is definitely there and he does look like Barack Obama in hand. The closed-mouth head does edge out the open-mouth head in overall likeness. I picked up an extra DiD Obama body and plan to build another figure based on the loose accessories. My only major gripe would be the overall quality of the suit. It's difficult to attain perfection in a suit at this scale, especially if it's mass produced. There are custom suits that can be purchased that are made in limited quantities and are high in detail and quality, but they would cost you more than suits made at 1:1 scale! I was able to make the suit presentable after taking an iron to it, so it's not so bad. In a day and age of action figures costing up to $200 and more, you get a nice quality figure for a reasonable cost here.

I agree with others that this is the best likeness of President Obama available. The actual figure isn't painted as nicely as the photo and I will probably do a little retouching.

I am a doll collector and feel that it will appreciate in value over time.
