To Honor all the American Presidents starting with President George Washington, the U.S. Mints started the Presidential Dollar Program by releasing new coins each year, honoring the nation's highest ranked officials. Beginning January 1, 2007, this program will issue four one dollar coins per year, issuing one coin every 3 months for all fomer presidents chronologically by their term in office. The Presidential Coin Act of 2005 specifies that no former President may be depicted on a coin while he is still alive or within two years of his death.
Each beautiful golden dollar coin pays tribute to one of our former presidents. President Grover Cleveland has two coins, since he served non-sequential terms as the 22nd and 24th president. The face of each coin has the image of the President and the dates of his term with the years in office. The back side of each coin shows the Statue of Liberty and the image. The rims of each coin bear the year of minting along with "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "IN GOD WE TRUST", that make these coins unique, special, and definitely a collectible.
