Grade 4-6?Each of these books deals with a different aspect of the process of selecting a president. Electoral College has the sharpest focus, giving a clear analysis of the system's advantages, along with the history of this unique and often misunderstood institution. Conventions begins with a summary of what happens each day during a political party convention. The section on the history of conventions is rather brief, given the colorful history of these events. Elections, too, suffers from the attempt to cover a complex subject in little space. Subjects such as debates, polling, and independent candidates are touched on, but not in detail. All of the books feature black-and-white and full-color reproductions and photographs, many taken from the 1992 campaign. Short glossaries, lists for further reading, and good indexes are included. A more complete (although less current) choice for a slightly older audience is Thomas R. Raber's Presidential Campaign (Lerner, 1988).?Todd Morning, Schaumburg Township Public Library, IL
