The Kruhs, a father-and-son team, have produced a unique book. Their coverage details attractions related to each president, from George Washington to George Bush. Each site's description includes such information as admission fees, hours of operation, and directions. Anyone interested in a particular resident of the White House would undoubtedly find this information helpful. Unfortunately, however, it seems as if the authors couldn't make up their minds whether to write a history book or a travel guide. Each president is introduced in a capsule biography. Even when the reader gets beyond the amateurish writing style, the information is, at best, encyclopedic. The result is a bulky volume, impractical to carry along on a trip and too expensive to update. A better idea would have been to stick solely to the travel information in a lightweight, portable paperback. Even so, the unique approach may make it a good one-time purchase for large travel collections.
