YA-- This small, delightful book provides a whimsical look at each first family's pets or other animals. Hundreds of black-and-white photographs show the interaction between humans and animals. Of course FDR's Fala is here, as are LBJ's Him and Her and Bush's Millie. Also included are John Quincy Adam's alligator who lived in the East Room, Truman's goat named Dewey's Goat, and the snakes who disrupted an important meeting in the oval office of Theodore Roosevelt. The amount on each president varies as to his interest in animals, but the style is light and fast paced. A list of pets by type of animal and the index of names will assist researchers. The book could be used to entice nonmotivated students, who would at least learn the names of the presidents.
