Unfulfilled...,
By A Customer
This review is from: The President's Son (Paperback)
The story needed more on the relationships between the characters, but unfortunately was full of boring political stuff that the reader didn't care all that much about. Towards the end of the book, I couldn't put it down; but, sadly, the end ultimately leaves the reader disappointed. Not a bad read, but there are better.

Really not worth it.,

This review is from: The President's Son (Paperback)
The premise of this story sounds interesting. And at first, it is somewhat interesting. Unfortunately, the only two characters I wanted to read more about were True, the guy who liked hairy men, and Parker, the hot, beefy blond guy assigned to guard the President's son. All the other characters were flat archetypes. The story isn't ludicrous or anything like that, but the ending is SO unfulfilling. Granted, not all stories have a happy ending, but without a character to root for, a story just won't work. Sorry, Mr. Kraus, but this really could have been written better.

I just finished this book tonight. Last night, I had about 30 pages to go, and went to sleep thinking of the possible happy romantic endings I would find tonight. Mr. Kraus kept the suspense high through the last page, but while justice will be served, love's lost. The ending was not what I had entirely hoped for. A few details don't make sense to me, like how DJ could've found valium to drug his captor but can't find the car keys, and would the President's wife really have done THAT at THE convention? An epilog about Parker and Elaine would've put more closure on things. A little contrived towards the end, but still, you won't want to put it down. Sign me up for Mr. Kraus' next book!

Great characters who are at their finest in plotting the next career move, no matter whose dead body they have to step on to get there. Lots of political machinations to hold your intellect, as well as characters that tug at your emotions. A great read!

Excellent Read,

I realize some of the reviews weren't very flattering, and I must confess I bought the book only because I thought the guy on the cover was gorgeous. But, if you are the type of person who found the movie "The American President" (Michael Douglas) or the TV series, "West Wing" to be even marginally interesting, then you will definitely like this book. It definitely is a bit more intense than the above mentioned dramas, but it's definitely worth the read. I, typically, like Gordon Merrick and Felice Picano and some of the newer vampire novel writers, but I started reading this book last night at work and only took a break to drive home after work and then finished reading. It kept me totally captivated. I'd love to see this turned into a movie.

A well crafted story, but so very tragic.,

I could hardly put this book down. There were so many layers of deceit that I wanted to see some kind of justice at the end. Instead, I felt as though I was let down

Disapointed,

While this story had it's moments, it just couldn't seem to pull them all together. The ending was a total disapointment.
The cover is just fluff, and I found the blurb on the back misleading. Parker (The Secret Service agent in charge of protecting D.J. Marshal) was such a non-character that he could easily have been removed and you wouldn't have noticed. I also found annoying the way that some information is passed along in a "Oh, by the way" manner. There were too many moments when the reader is told something after it happens, as a side note, when it would have been much better to have been a part of the action. Most of the characters were just... disapointing. Their feelings and motivations seem out of place at times, and not really realistic. It was just hard to care about them very much, so I just watch them go through the motions out of curiosity. It was like watching a political trainwreck, but the story doesn't end so much as it *stops* at the moment of impact. There's no real closure, no summing of of the storyline, and still a ton of loose ends left. I came away with the feeling that there was no real point to having hung around for the ending, and found it very annoying.

The President's Son Is a Must Read,

I read this book years ago and I was impressed with how detailed the information was providing the atmosphere in the White House. There is no doubt that Krandall had a career in the government and was able to share insight on the prevailing stereotypes during that time. Even as a work of fiction, I read with the enthusiasm of understanding the absolute chaos and lengths that people will go to hide the truth about homosexuality in the family.

Good Read,

This book was a really good read for me! This was the first "GAY" book I read. The story line was not all crazy and way far out in the left field. I like to think that this could happen if a president had a gay son, however I don't see secret service agents trying to protect a gay teenager! This book is easy to follow there is not a lot of bouncing around, and the ending is somewhat disappointing, but not all books can have good endings.
