This is a great cookbook in my opinion. It has old fashioned recipes that reminded me of home when I was a child. It also tells the last meal that Elvis had eaten, yes this is truly a wonderful recipe book..

Delicious and accurate southern cooking,
This review is from: Presley Family Cookbook (Plastic Comb)
Elvis did not grow up with a silver spoon in his mouth. All through his life, he stayed true to his roots and loved a type of southern cooking called "soul food". Soul food is based on plain and common ingredients found in any southern kitchen no matter how poor your family is. It's also significantly influenced by African ingredients brought to the US and ways of cooking. These recipes are good, easy to make, and make me feel just a little closer to my southern heritage even though I don't live there now. Plus the narrative and insight into the Presely family's ways is very interesting.

My Mama bought this for me about five years ago for Christmas. It reminded me alot of the dishes she cooked for me as a child. There are a lot of great recipes in here and that I know that Elvis enjoyed.

I don't know how accurate these recipes are as far as Elvis goes, but they are truly southern. I recommend this book to any Elvis fan. I will be trying some at Christmas.
