Product Description

Amazon.com

With elements of rummy (cards played in sequence) and poker (chips!), Michigan Rummy will appeal to fans of both games. To begin a game, each player puts a chip in each of nine compartments in the plastic game board. Seven of the compartments are identified with a bonus card. When that card is played during the game, the holder of the card wins the corresponding chips. A deck of cards is completely dealt at the beginning of the game. Cards are played by suit, with the first player playing the lowest card in their hand. Play moves to any player who has the next card in the suit and continues until no plays are left. Play then moves to another suit. The object of the game is to discard all cards while collecting bonus chips. If a bonus isn't collected in one game, the chips remain in the compartment and are carried over to the next game. The center compartment is won by the first player to empty their hand. The Poker Pool is won by the player with the best poker hand at the end of the game. Card deck not included. --Wendy Slotboom

We've been playing Michigan Rummy for years, although we long ago lost the green tray! It's a great game to get the family together after a holiday meal... or any other time, for that matter. It's filled with thrills and heartaches, and it always brings in a lot of laughs. The more players you have, the more intresting it becomes. Michigan Rummy is definately worth the price Amazon.com is selling it for, but with a deck of cards, some poker chips, and a little ingenuity this is can be a do-it-yourself game no matter where you are.

We purchased the game because we played Michigan Rummy when we were young kids. We bought the game and took it on a family vacation and the whole family played the game. Our ages ranged from 8 years to 76 years and several in between. It was hard to quit playing at the end of the evening because everyone enjoyed it. It will certainly be used in future get togethers of not only relatives but friends.

I played Michigan Rummy for the first time with my girlfriend's family two years ago and now find myself looking to play the game during family gatherings, especially holidays. I do not recall playing this game as a child so I feel it is one I missed out on. I have since introduced some friends to this game. It is a nice group game to play. The board is made out of a thin plastic so unfortunately flimsy. I am looking to order the wooden board after this review.

Enjoy!

We play Michigan Rummy every Christmas Eve at my family's party. After searching every big store and toy store in the tri-county area I finally gave up and looked online thinging it was either hopeless or I was going to pay an arm and a leg for a board just so we could play the game. When I found it I was amazed at the price and could not be happier. I have to say though that we play with pennies because the game only comes with about 100 of the tokens and this is not nearly enough when you have more than two people playing. I highly recommend this to anyone. Not only for the price of the product but because it can bring hours of fun and the family together.

The whole thing about Michigan Rummy is the tray you place the money in. This one is so flimsy I do not think it will become a family heirloom. But it does serve the purpose.

Don't waste your money on this cheap tray. It is so flimsy, I doubt it will make it thru more than a few games.
Ebay has vintage Michigan Rummy boards. Spend a little more and get a sturdier game tray.

I love the game, but the product is incredibly cheap. The board is cheap, thin plastic. Only a few chips and no cards are included. Its worth about 25 cents. I should have gotten one of the other Michigan Rummy games. This one is junk.

I ordered two of these based on one my daughter-in-law had been given some years ago. It's a great game - but this playing board is pressed from very thin celluloid and is so flimsy I feel it will not last many games. In fact, one was received (in Cincinnati)very slightly deformed as the box had been slightly crushed in local transit.
