Editorial Reviews

2009 solo release from the bass player for Gypsy Punk powerhouse Gogol Bordello. Tommy was born and raised in Ethiopia and the knowledge of global rhythms he brings to Gogol's sound has become part of their unclassifiable approach to music. The Prester John Sessions is a collection of 11 songs including a remix featuring Gogol Bordello band mates Eugene Huts and Pedro Srazo and mixed by Michael Goldwasser of the Easy Star All-Stars. The record also features two collaborations with Gigi, one of the most popular modern Ethiopian singers. It was mixed by Victor Van Vugt (Gogol Bordello, Nick Cave).

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Debut November 23, 2009
By R-one
Format:Audio CD
From the first moments of "Brothers" until the last notes of "Eden," this album is a stunning display of beauty from the man behind Gogol Bordello's bass. The album dances from traditional Ethiopian rhythms to reggae, funk and Jazz with confidence and ease. And for Gogol fans, there is a fun remix at the end to wake you up out of the trance the album induces. I can't think of anyone who would not find something to like on The Prester John Sessions and I can't wait to see what Tommy T comes up with next.

5.0 out of 5 stars world music and/or reggae fans should listen! April 10, 2010
Format:Audio CD
I am a world music fan but not really a reggae fan. This album has both, but is fantastic all around. Some really wonderful songs. World class. Great sax solo as well. Prester John Sessions

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorites of the year March 12, 2010
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I saw Tommy T perform live and immediately went out and purchased the CD. I wasn't disappointed. This is a great cd from start to finish. I was surprised to later fid out that Tommy T is apart of gipsy rock band. He's definitely a versatile artist.
