5.0 out of 5 stars Great Sphyg
I bought TWO of these, one for myself, and another for a friend and we've been using these for our rotations the past 8 months. Both are still functional, and heavily used. Neither of us have had any problem using it. Both have been dropped and banged a few times, and they still work great.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bummer!
I got this quite excited for my medical class, and the fantastic deal I thought I was getting. Unfortunately it was too good to be true. After it was assembled, and tested. The gauge wouldn't fall under 100 mmhg. To be able to do that it is critical that this functions perfectly to take vitals. Also, I was upset with this product because the gauge lens was scratched all...

******The price is reasonable. I have no compelling argument against purchasing this product. It does exactly what it should, and seems durable.

Note: This is it, don't look anymore unless you want a better price. Spending more than this on some other product is foolish and pointless. Buy a good steth, don't get caught up on the sphyg.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent BP Cuff for Nursing Students!, September 26, 2009
By
I bought this cuff from a local medical uniform supply store so that I could practice taking blood pressure. I'm a new nursing student, and being on a budget, I was pretty limited in what I could purchase. But the ancient cuffs that the school allowed us to check out had seen better days: the release valves were tough to open reulting in some patient discomfort!

This cuff is quite nice for the price: If the dial is ever off more than three mm/Hg (which is easy to discern via the small box at the "6 o'clock" position), Prestige will reclaibrate it for you (just keep your receipt). The bladder releases very easily and quietly, which is great to help reduce extraneous noise while listening through a stehoscope. The cuff also has a sewn-in name tag and labels for where to line up the artery on the left and right arms, and a size guide.

One caveat: the Velcro portion of the straps is EXTREMELY grippy. Now, this is normally a good thing since it ensures a secure fit around a patient's arm. But with all the pulling to undo it, I was concerned that the seams would rip. I got a small bottle of Locktite glue, and placed a small bit of adhesive under the Velcro flaps along the seams to further anchor it to the cuff. It feels much more secure now!

Being a male, I wasn't too impressed with some of the other styles of BP cuffs available at the store(I'm not really a Betty Boop or hot pink kind of guy!). But the royal blue color I bought is really nice looking; a very deep hue. And it doesn't look like every other black BP cuff around school. The included matching case also has a side pouch where I keep my warranty info and receipt handy.

When all is said and done, this is a great low-cost BP cuff for students that allows for ample practice of vital sign skills on your own time. It was worth the money to avoid using a junky loaner!

4.0 out of 5 stars good product for the money, January 25, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have been buying this brand BP cuff for some time now. It's good quality for the money. I work as a visiting nurse and take many BP's in the course of a week and I'm satisfied with how it holds up. It comes in some nice colors and patterns with a plain black case.

The gauge wouldn't fall under 100 mmhg. To be able to do that it is critical that this functions perfectly to take vitals. Also, I was upset with this product because the gauge lens was scratched all to heck. It looks like someone took a razor and jacked up the surface of the lens. I thought this was supposed to be a brand new item? I am mortified over their quality of blood pressure cuffs. I would not recommend buying this!

1.0 out of 5 stars Looks good, June 13, 2010

This review is from: Prestige Aneroid Sphygmomanometer with Hunter Green Cuff (Health and Beauty)
This product was defective, I was lucky I had a blood pressure cuff that was broken. The inflation device was faulty and you can tell all of the cuffs from this site are more than likely the same way. I waited to long, I would have sent this product back for a refund.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS SPHYGMOMANOMETER, April 22, 2010
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I'm a medical student and purchased this sphygmomanometer to use for practice in a clinical medicine course. It seemed like a good deal, but I used it maybe ten times before the tubing simply fell apart. You get what you pay for. Invest in a quality device and avoid this one if at all possible. A lifetime calibration warranty is useless if the thing comes apart.

This is a basic aneroid sphygmomanometer that we'll use in the office until it breaks, like all the others before it. It seems to be good quality so far and the price is nice.

2.0 out of 5 stars The gauge stopped working, January 9, 2008
I give this sphygmomanometer a two because the gauge stopped working after taking 1 BP. This product probably would be of good quality and I'm really hoping that my experience was the exception.
