We bought this deep fryer around 3 years ago and it is still working great! We received a fancier deep fryer for a gift, but the fancy one never seems to get hot enough. This deep fryer has never given us any problems.

Nice Fryer!,

I recently purchased the DualDaddy fryer. I have had several different fryers in the past. I started about ten or so years ago with the original GranDaddy. It was alright, but I wanted to be able to fry more, and had seen the newer fryers that had covers while you were frying. I bought one, and it was great for frying, and the cover kept the spattering to a minimum. However, it was very pricey, and a major job to clean. If I'm going to take the time to clean something, I want it very clean. With the big ones, you have to really take it all apart to get it good and clean. The day before I bought the DualDaddy, I spent over an hour trying to get the old one clean, and finally gave up and threw it out. I really like the DualDaddy. It is a great size, and very simple to clean. In about fifteen minutes I can drain the oil, wash the fryer and refill. I bought one of those fine screen mesh spatter guards that you put over skillets for a dollar and it works great on top of the fryer. The ONLY thing I wish this fryer had was a light to let you know when the power is on and when the oil is up to temp. Other than that, I really like this fryer. It comes to about 350 degrees in under fifteen minutes, and holds it's temp. quite well.

As a former owner of a Presto Fry Daddy, and Grandaddy I expected more of the same high quality and got it! Not only is this the largest one to date, but the fastest. The oil is up to full temperature a full 2 or 3 minutes quicker then the other two, about 10 minutes total. Does a great job of cooking, just try not to overload it or it`ll foam over! Great quality and price, a best buy.

It is wonderful! Great size for a family. Just a little bigger than the Grandpappy, and has a metal divider that slides in the middle to fry two things at one time!

DualDaddy Great Purchase,

Exactly what I expected. Good service by Amazon. Good price. Shipped quickly. And the fryer seems to be even better (heats quicker, larger capacity) than the old Frydaddy (many years old) which I dropped and broke. I'm very satisfied.

Not worth the money because it doesn't work,

I got the Presto Dual Daddy and it is the worst fryer that I have ever had. It doesn't have a temperature control and it heats the oil to almost 450 degrees, so everything was burnt and undercooked. When I got into contact with the company they where very rude to me and admited that they where aware of the problem but did nothing to fix it. I have a few fryers in the past and this one was a waste of money.

Evolution of the fry-pappy,

We've had these things since the little ones first came out. When our last fry grandpappy finally gave out, we got this over-sized one. Have never used the divider, but it looks like it would work just fine. The only thing I don't like about it is the magnetic power cord attachment. It isn't the old friction stick-it-in kind of plug, but it's never came loose since we started using it. We really like the extra room in this deep fryer.

E-Z Fried Food,
By
This review is from: Presto 05450 DualDaddy Electric Deep Fryer (Kitchen)
This fryer has a large mouth that makes it easy to stir your food. The preset temp control is set to keep your food frying properly. All you have to do is keep track of the frying time. It's really E-Z.

it's ok, but I'd get something else,

I've had this fryer for over 4 years. It's held up fine, but doesn't have any of the features I think are important in a fryer. The metal divider is ok, but I never use it as I find the 2 compartments too small. The lid is worthless. My roommate accidentally plugged it in instead of a different appliance and the lid melted right off in just a few minutes (a replacement lid is ridiculously priced after shipping, so I just use foil, but it's a pain). There are no temperature controls. I bought a candy thermometer and the oil gets off the charts on the thermometer all the time. I wish it were easier to control. Also the outside gets very very hot. I've burned myself accidentally bumping into it.
To sum up: Positives - Food comes out fine - Product has lasted years Neutrals - Price is ok Negatives - no cool touch side insulation - no temp control - no fry basket.. comes only with a tiny scooper - plastic lid melts. you have to wait hours to put it on. - not easy to clean. no parts come off, so you just have to wipe it out. it's also hard to pour the oil out because you have to lift the whole thing. This fryer is ok all in all, but there are so many better ones out there for about the same price. |
