This is our second skillet like this. The first lasted for years before the finish started coming off of the interior so we decided to buy another just like it. The skillet cooks evenly and the heat is easy to control. We purchased through Amazon and J&R Music was the retailer who actually got the order. J&R ships items in the original manufacturers box wrapped only in plastic for protection. The first unit was damaged during shipment and that is when the nightmare began. It was supposed to have been a Christmas gift for my wife and I made that clear when I reported the damage back in early December. They drug their feet making promises of second day delivery and better packaging on the replacement. Bottom line we didn't receive the replacement until December 29th. It wasn't shipped second day as promised, it didn't make it in time for Christmas as promised and once again the box arrived damaged because they only wrapped it in plastic again. Buy the skillet but avoid J&R. Those people just don't get it!

I have had my mod# 06850 for about six weeks now and I really like it. I had a GE before this but the non-stick coating just wore out in 4 years of use. That old GE skillet taught me to be very careful with the coating and now I always use soft tools and no scouring of the pan (no need). If the pan gets really dirty soak it, never use scotch brite (green abrasive fuss) type sponge pads. I use the Presto on a daily basis and just love the very small amount of oil needed (NEVER heat non-stick dry) to cook things like eggs. Before getting this pan I tried another GE but the coating has been changed to an anodized aluminum type that is not worth a damn. This is the one for me, but don't scratch it!

I was looking for an electric skillet that could accomidate 2 cut-up frying chickins and easy to clean. Well, this skillet is a little to delicate for my liking. It fries up that much chicken or 4 halibut steaks just fine, but I accidently made a hairline scratch on the coated cooking surface and it was never the same. With each use and washing that scratch got wider and longer until small patches of the coating began coming off and exposeing the bare metal beneath, and of course any food coming into contact with that would stick. The disintegration of the surface continued no matter how carefully I washed it until I just threw it away. I should add that the electric cord is only about 2 feet in lenght! So you must cook right next to an outlet. I prefer a hardier piece of equipment not something I have to pamper.

This electric skillet is fantastic. The non-stick interior and exterior is very high quality, the temperature is more even than any electric skillet I've ever used, and the larger size is extremely useful. I highly recommend this skillet to everyone!

This is my 3rd electric skillet since I have been married (25 yrs). My skillets grew as my family grew. I still like the big skillet for when they come home for mom's fried chicken, I can't seem to fry chicken on the stove without burning it and the electric skillet is perfect for that. Anyway, my last one was scratched up which tends to happen over time but still was adequate, I just wanted a new one. I do want to mention that there is not a steam vent in the lid, I think that would have been better, it's just a solid lid (thus 4 stars). Unlike another review, I feel that this has a very durable coating, it looks like it could endure a lot b/c it is like my previous skillets as far as coating goes. They make plastic everything now as far as utensils so don't use metal!! I also use my skillet for fried potatoes, stir-fry, pancakes, pork chops and so many other things. It's a great skillet and I use it often.

We purchased this skillet to replace a worn-out Presto skillet. The non-stick surface is working well. The large size has been very ample for our needs. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the lack of a variable vent in the lid.

I GO THROUGH AN ELECTRIC SKILLET A YEAR!! USE THEM A LOT. WANTED ONE MORE USER FRIENDLY, NOT SO GIAGANTIC THAT IT WAS LONG AND TOO BIG HANDLES, SO CHOSE THIS ONE - PERFECT!!!! LOVE THE DOMED LID, AND VERY FUNCTUAL FOR ME!!!

We love to use our electric skillet for sauces, eggs, pancakes and many other things. Our old skillet's inner coating was peeling and it was about 15 years old so we bought a new one. The heat distribution on the new one was was terrible and it would not maintain an even temparture range. We bought this unit based on the favorable reviews and have been very happy with it for several reasons: the slightly larger size (16"), the light weight lid (thankfully not glass) and the very even heat distribution. We are so happy with it that we are buying another one for a family member for Christmas (they used it at our house and loved it).

What a disappointment ! The pan is shallow so you can't cook a lot of sauce and the lids stains. Other than that, it's ok. Honestly what were they thinking. It's 16" long so you would assume that it would be used for large recipes. But it's only 2 1/2" deep so it's not good for spaghetti sauce or other sauces. AND the worst issue is that the lid stains when you do cook anything with tomato, BBQ or ketchup. I am totally discouraged and am glad that I kept my old West Bend from many years ago.

Even though I've never used any utensil that would scratch this skillet, the non-stick coating is coming off the inside wall of the pan. I've only had it for about a year and it is not used that often.
I really thought it would be better than that.
