I got this canning kit because I was tired of picking up boiling-hot canning jars and lids with salad tongs. The lid lifter works very well and does a great job of picking up and transferring lids from their prep water to the jar top and the magnet isn't so strong that you're always fighting it. The jar lifter worked very well for pulling the jars out of my steam canner following their canning cycle. The funnel was very helpful and resulted in the jars being clean even after filling--I only had to wipe 2 out of the 10 that I filled with the funnel, whereas without the funnel I always had to wipe all of my jar lids and then occasionally I would get one jar that didn't stay sealed and several that got stuck to their rims. This is a good kit well worth the <$20 that I paid for it.

I'm happy with these tools. I haven't had any problems with any of them. At the recommendation of my friend who cans a LOT, however, I purchased a separate stainless steel funnel. She says these plastic ones will begin to melt after a few canning sessions.

Great little starter combo. Have used it a lot the past few months, and it's all holding together, no quality issues. Has everything you need to help move hot canning jars and their lids. The magnet (on the lid lifter) is a good strength to securely remove lids from hot water after boiling, but not so much you have to struggle to remove the lid from the tool and end up contaminating the lid in the process. Good kit at a fair price.

Being new to canning, I needed to get all the supplies and this convenient kit had what I was looking for. I've not used the alarm clock, since I already have two in my kitchen that I use for baking and such. Though I could see the alarm clock coming in handy at Christmas time - when I tend to get distracted between batches of cookies and go off to do something in another room - now I can clip this portable alarm on me to remember to check them. Back to the rest of the kit - it's a good starter kit, though I will probably try to replace the items with heavier duty American made products as I determine exactly how I want them, if I could have found an American made kit, I would have purchased that to begin with. This kit was a cheap starter kit to determine my interest in canning and I'd recommend it to others who are looking for something to get started with.

This product arrived a little late for the MAJOR tomato sauce canning episode in our home, but my husband used it to can peppers and the combined items made his canning adventure much easier than mine was. I esp. like the timer included,and plan to use all of the items this week when I can tomato sauce number 2! It doesn't hurt a bit that we both like the color of the items and found their dishwasher durability to be excellent.

I'm not an experienced canner, but I wanted to make jams as favors for my wedding. I bought this kit because it was so inexpensive and seemed to have everything. It worked out great. I used the funnel, tons and magnet the most - and am not really sure what I would have done without them!

This is a must have kit if you are interested in canning. The only thing lacking is a thermometer and large canning pot which I already owned. Everything else you need is in this wonderful kit. I ordered the bright green one but it also comes in red. I'm going to order it for my friends that expressed interest in this old time art after they received my strawberry jam, apple butter, lemon curd, orange marmalade and jalepeno jelly.

Great quality set for a good price. I particularly like the tone of the Martian-retro-Chinese green, very cool. Looks great in my retro kitchen. Used it today and was all around-pleased.

Love that it comes with the magnetic timer. The jar lifter works good, could be a bit sturdier, but still very functional and have canned a ton with it! Funnel is perfect! Lid wrench is so so, don't use it much.

comes with a magnet timer that I use all the time. This set has held up well. I use everything in it for canning tomatoes and applesauce.
