I do not like this fryer at all.
It has no basket. Instead it has a plastic scoop. That means you either have to scoop in your fries or fish sticks in a few at a time with the scoop, or you get a big grease-splosion when you dump them in en masse.
This leads us to the second problem. The brushed aluminum case is very difficult to keep clean. If you opt to dump your food in, the grease will often splash and run down the outside of the fryer. If you don't catch it right away, the oil congeals to the side and becomes almost impossible to remove, and impossible to remove with out scratching up the aluminum.
After a year of use, the lid no longer fits tightly, and the plastic scoop has left marks on the bottom of the bowl where it has actually melted to the heating coil. The scoop was not left in for any length of time, the damaged happened while I was scooping out tater tots.
And last, but not least, it gets the oil too hot. There is no temperature control to regulate this. It heats the oil to near 400, which scorches the oil faster, and makes it impossible to fry chicken. I made up some fresh fried chicken and it burned the outside, and left the meat near the bone raw.

The Gran Pappy Elite is the latest thing since sliced bread. We used to own the Fry Daddy.
When we got the Gran Pappy it was better than the Fry Daddy. cooks more efficiently and at
a cooler temperature than the Fry Daddy. The Stainless look also adds to our decor.

I use this for frying homemade Chile Rellenos. Perfect size. It keeps the temperature very stable for a nice consistent color and crispiness. Can't find a thing wrong with it. Every now and then you run across a product that actually performs as well as advertized. This is one of them. It has exceeded my expectations in every way.

This item does exactly what it claims! It fries like a dream! Everything was crispy and delicious, no oily after taste either! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

We really like this fryer. It is big and heats up VERY fast. Cooks food very good. Only complaint is, is that the bottom is layered so when you go to flip something like a tenderloin it is a little hard because it gets caught on the bottom layers. If it was a flat bottom it would have been better but overall good product.
