The twists and turns in Barbara's novels provide many hours of entertaining food for thought. I've
become a fan and a collector. -Shirley Reynolds, Colorado--

I read Presumed Dead first but then had to have Vanished. The Wilton/Strait Mystery series are my new favorites. Barbara's plots keep a person guessing all the way through. -Denise Sassman, Storm Lake Iowa--

Ted Dekker is one of my favourite authors. Barbara's books are as exciting, and hard to put down as his. -Mandy, Manitoba--

About the Author

Her readers also have a tremendous amount of input when they wonder what happened to this character or that one, even if they are secondary to the story.

Barbara's devotionals are sought after each year when she publishes a new one that reflects what God has placed on her heart. From Straight Pipes, her first, to Chaps, the latest, Barbara's devotions take people to the place where God can touch their heart and leave a lasting impression. 2012 will see the release of her fifth about the Sermon on the Mount.

Born in Canada, Barbara lived in the US for 12 years. There her writing surfaced as she worked as a journalist for six years with over 2500 articles published in newspapers and magazines during that time. Her readership expanded while in the States but now the Canadian public has discovered the gift that God has given yet another Canadian.

She is a member of The Word Guild, Manitoba Writer's Guild, The Writer's Collective, and Christian Motorcyclists Association where each summer her books are used to entertain and encourage.

"Presumed Dead" certainly held my attention! Barbara Ann Derksen has written a compelling mystery with multiple twists and turns in the plot, complete with two endearing detectives, and a large cast of intriguing "extras." Her characters are real and vulnerable. The dialogue is realistic, the book is well researched, and it is obvious that the author knows her way around the world of bikers. The descriptions of the characters and of the setting are vivid, making the reader feel a integral part of the story as it unfolds.
This is my first experience with a Kindle product and I found the poor layout a bit distracting but because the book was so well written, it was still a great pleasure to read this book.

In presumed dead Brian and Andrea have started a business to find missing/ lost persons. This adventure takes them into the world of drugs and bikers. When The missing man turns up dead it seems their job is done' but the trail of a missing girl takes them right back into the thick of things. Their relationship has advanced past friendship. I really loved how Brian treats Andrea. The story is full of twists and turns which kept me reading to see what would happen next. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

4.0 out of 5 stars enjoy clean, mystery and suspense October 22, 2012
By pwnmom
Format:Paperback
This book was a really good suspense, mystery novel. It is the second in this series and did a great job of picking up where the first one (Vanished) left off. I loved seeing Andrea and Brian's relationship develop. There is a sweet flirtation between the two of them and it's slowly, but surely breaking down Andrea's walls built up after several bad relationships. True love heals. Not only does their personal relationship develop, but so does their working relationship as they take on two new cases.

There's a lot of twists and unexpected turns, danger and God works through and in it all. I love how she easily pulls God into the "daily" aspects of Brian, Andrea, Trent and Diane's lives. It's a good read and I would definitely recommend it to others who enjoy clean, mystery and suspense novels!

5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing and Different October 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As I was reading I wasn't sure if this story was a romance, a biker's tale, a detective mystery, or a lesson in Christianity. The more I read, the more I realized that it was all of the above--and very well done, I might add. Andrea and Brian are adventurous and willing to tackle anything when it comes to their detective agency, but they never lose their values or their faith in the Lord. It's refreshing that these two are in love but are not in bed together. A very enjoyable book with some intense parts that kept me turning the pages.

4.0 out of 5 stars An enjoyable read. September 10, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I thoroughly enjoyed this cozy mystery. It moved well and had some twists and turns. I didn't read the first book, but I plan to. The humor mixed in well. Being a romantic, I enjoyed the budding romance between Andrea and Brian. I love the fact that it is a family friendly read since I have fourteen grandchildren.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great story but bad editing August 28, 2012
By sbrobst
Format:Paperback
I found the opening of the story a bit slow. It took me several days to read just a few chapters. Not being one to give up on a book so easily and kept plugging along. I finished the last 3/4 of the book in one sitting! The author keeps you interested as the story unfolds and you gain more insight into the characters and the suspense of the story.

One thing I often dislike about reading fictional books is that they can often be predictable. This book was just the opposite! The author did an amazing job of keeping you wondering what would happen next with many twist and turns! As soon as you thought maybe you had it figured out the story changed with another clue! And the ending was totally a surprise!

While the overall story was very interesting and held my attention at times I got bored with too many details. There were also times when I thought the author made the events and the sharing of the gospel seem a bit too easy. But then again if a person has been "seeded" and "watered" I guess it could seem easy to reap a harvest.

One major negative I have about the book is the punctuation and grammar errors. It made it hard to read at times, requiring reading the sentence a few times before you understood what was being said. Also on the PDF copy page 177 began a repeat of several paragraphs from page 174. At first I thought I have scrolled back a couple pages only to find that the page repeat. But this is an editorial issue and while it could be frustrating it didn't keep me from enjoying the story.
