The twists and turns in Barbara's novels provide many hours of entertaining food for thought. I've
become a fan and a collector. -Shirley Reynolds, Colorado--

I read Presumed Dead first but then had to have Vanished. The Wilton/Strait Mystery series are my new favorites. Barbara's plots keep a person guessing all the way through. -Denise Sassman, Storm Lake Iowa--

Ted Dekker is one of my favourite authors. Barbara's books are as exciting, and hard to put down as his. -Mandy, Manitoba--

About the Author

Watching the expressions on the faces of her readers as well as answering questions about her characters is what drives author and speaker, Barbara Ann Derksen to write yet another book and another. Her favorite genre is murder mystery but each book brings forth characters who rely on God as they solve the puzzle in their life. Her readers also have a tremendous amount of input when they wonder what happened to this character or that one, even if they are secondary to the story.

Barbara's devotionals are sought after each year when she publishes a new one that reflects what God has placed on her heart. From Straight Pipes, her first, to Chaps, the latest, Barbara's devotions take people to the place where God can touch their heart and leave a lasting impression. 2012 will see the release of her fifth about the Sermon on the Mount.

Born in Canada, Barbara lived in the US for 12 years. There her writing surfaced as she worked as a journalist for six years with over 2500 articles published in newspapers and magazines during that time. Her readership expanded while in the States but now the Canadian public has discovered the gift that God has given yet another Canadian.

She is a member of The Word Guild, Manitoba Writer's Guild, The Writer's Collective, and Christian Motorcyclists Association where each summer her books are used to entertain and encourage.

Barbara has spoken across the US and in Manitoba, Canada for women's groups and in church services on topics such as The Writing Experience, working in the ministry of Christian Motorcyclists Association, Love, Parenting, Time Management, and a host of others.

With 11 books to her credit, each one surpasses the last, according to her readers.

More About the Author

With a plethora of writing under her belt and a variety of genres, Barbara Ann Derksen receives encouragement from 4 and 5 star reviews, the eager anticipation by readers for the next book, and a new reader discovering her existence.

Born in Canada, Barbara lived in the US for 12 years. There her writing surfaced as she worked under contract as a journalist for six years with over 2500 articles published in newspapers and magazines during that time. The new series has given them something to think about as she delves into the world of sex trafficking and pedophilia. Each book has its own message and seeks to instill in the reader a sense of purpose as it is lived out in the lives of the characters.

"Presumed Dead" certainly held my attention! Barbara Ann Derksen has written a compelling mystery with multiple twists and turns in the plot, complete with two endearing detectives, and a large cast of intriguing "extras." Her characters are real and vulnerable. The dialogue is realistic, the book is well researched, and it is obvious that the author knows her way around the world of bikers. The descriptions of the characters and of the setting are vivid, making the reader feel a integral part of the story as it unfolds.
This is my first experience with a Kindle product and I found the poor layout a bit distracting but because the book was so well written, it was still a great pleasure to read this book.

After reading the first book in the Wilton/Strait Mystery Series - Vanished, I was looking forward to the 2nd book in the series. It did not disappoint. In this book, we meet back up with Andrea and Brian who have now started their detective agency. DJ, who was introduced at the end of the last book, introduces them to the completely different world of biker gangs. While DJ is in a Christian bike club, they still have regular interactions with Demons Raiders and other biker gangs. The Christian bikers have the goal of reaching out to others where they are at and not being pushy about their faith. This leads them to some pretty interesting situations.

Having known some members of Christian biker gangs, I've heard how difficult and crazy this world can be for them. They need to be on their best behavior at all times and be a testimony without pushing their beliefs on other bikers. It's a fine line to walk at all times. Barbara does a nice job bringing readers into this world without it being over-the-top. Readers get a good understanding of the culture without feeling like they need to clean up after reading the book.

Overall, the Christian message in the book flows nicely with the story, but there were a couple of spots were it felt forced and unnatural given the circumstances. That being said, the characters felt real. It was nice to see the characters of Andrea and Brian to be developed as the story moved along.

As was probably expected, you do see a relationship start to blossom between Andrea and Brian. Since they both want to maintain high standards in their relationship, this part of the story is pretty much clean.

This book was a really good suspense, mystery novel. It is the second in this series and did a great job of picking up where the first one (Vanished) left off. I loved seeing Andrea and Brian's relationship develop. There is a sweet flirtation between the two of them and it's slowly, but surely breaking down Andrea's walls built up after several bad relationships. True love heals. Not only does their personal relationship develop, but so does their working relationship as they take on two new cases.

There's a lot of twists and unexpected turns, danger and God works through and in it all. I love how she easily pulls God into the "daily" aspects of Brian, Andrea, Trent and Diane's lives. It's a good read and I would definitely recommend it to others who enjoy clean, mystery and suspense novels!

In presumed dead Brian and Andrea have started a business to find missing/ lost persons. This adventure takes them into the world of drugs and bikers. When The missing man turns up dead it seems their job is done' but the trail of a missing girl takes them right back into the thick of things. Their relationship has advanced past friendship. I really loved how Brian treats Andrea. The story is full of twists and turns which kept me reading to see what would happen next. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

As I was reading I wasn't sure if this story was a romance, a biker's tale, a detective mystery, or a lesson in Christianity. The more I read, the more I realized that it was all of the above--and very well done, I might add. Andrea and Brian are adventurous and willing to tackle anything when it comes to their detective agency, but they never lose their values or their faith in the Lord. It's refreshing that these two are in love but are not in bed together. A very enjoyable book with some intense parts that kept me turning the pages.

I thoroughly enjoyed this cozy mystery. It moved well and had some twists and turns. I didn't read the first book, but I plan to. The humor mixed in well. Being a romantic, I enjoyed the budding romance between Andrea and Brian. I love the fact that it is a family friendly read since I have fourteen grandchildren.
