This review is from: Presumed dead: The survival of a bomb group commander (Five great classic stories of World War II) (Paperback)
This is a the story of a airmen(I can't remember his exact rank but I think he was a bomb group commander) who was shot down over France. He is with another member of the bomber crew and they try to hike out to Spain, fail, and end up with staying with a French farming family. It is short and easily read in a day or two. It is an excellent story, fairly well written, and very exciting. I was a history major in college, and though I am now a lawyer I still enjoy a good history book. More and more I prefer primary sources to secondary sources. This is a great primary source for anyone interested in WWII, the 8th airforce, or just a great story about humanity.
