Book Description

June 8, 2004
Himeno is a high school freshman who's having trouble adjusting to the lifestyle of the very rich. Her father Kaoru is a one-time famous author of young girls' novels. One of his greatest fans was Natsue, a wealthy woman who liked Kaoru so much that she snatched him up from the rundown apartment and married him! But Himeno's life is far from rosy. Her dad tends to take the side of Natsue rather than her, and Natsue's two daughters from a previous marriage aren't very fond of their new stepsister. One day, Himeno takes a shortcut to school and meets a young boy. When she takes the boy's hand, she's transported to a fantasy world that lies on the brink of extinction. And the one person that can stop it is the girl called "Pretear."

5.0 out of 5 stars Pret with me!, May 25, 2004
This review is from: Pretear, Vol. 1 (Paperback)
This book is better than the anime. I love to see the original art and storyline. If you are a die hard fan of the anime or just a casual manga reader, you will love this series. It is cute in a shoujo way, but it also has a very cool storyline that will keep you hooked. From cute bishounen to cute kids, the Leafe Knights alone will keep you coming back for more...:)

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than the anime, July 8, 2004
This review is from: Pretear, Vol. 1 (Paperback)
When I saw Pretear back in October all I could do was wonder when the manga would come out. A lot of people thought it was gonna be a repeat of the anime or some butchering of it (like Tokita's Gundam Wing and G Gundam manga) but that is a far cry from the truth. the story line is completely original and frankly I like it better. It gives the deep characters even more depth to them, and the art is gorgeous. If you loved Pretear or any manga with bishies and strong female characters this is a must must must read and the differences between the anime and manga are fun. Also this book gives one more allusion to snow white than the anime did backing up the full title "New Legend of Snow White Pretear"

5.0 out of 5 stars The martial arts master!, September 14, 2005
This review is from: Pretear, Vol. 1 (Paperback)
Himino is just a regular high school girl who lives in a mansion? Nah! Her father, Kaoru, was a writer for young girls novels. Natsue was a big fan of his and decided to marry him because she loved his books so much. Naturally Himino came to live with them along with her two stepsisters. Everyone's jealous of her, but do they really see what's happening? Her two sisters who grew up in a wealthy enviornment shun her, her "mother" treats her like a slave, and her father has no clue! (sounds a little like cinderella, huh?)

Then one morning after breakfast (himino's sisters already left in the limo) she races towards school because she's already running a little late. Suddenly, she accidently steps on a flower and is very sad to see it die. A little boy then comes out of the thicket and holds out his hand. Naturally Himiko takes it and the flower grows before her very eyes! Unfortunately it drains her of her energy, and when she comes to (yeah she fainted) a hansome stranger is leaning over her.

Hayate! Knight of Wind! The little boy who held out his hand was also a knight called a leafe knight. Leafe is the living force of everything, like an energy source for all that's good. There are seven leafe knights who have come to find the "pretear" or the one person who can create leafe to stop the red snow from falling. A couple of days ago it started snowing red snow, and only the leafe knights know what's going on. The princess of disaster has awakened. If the pretear is the giver of life the princess of disaster is the one who takes it away.

Himino and her seven knights must stop the princess of disaster before she destroys the world!

* This review is about the manga. The anime is somewhat different, actually. One of the knights looks totally different (Kei knight of light) and the story changes too! (for the worse) If you're just getting started with pretear I really recommend the manga BEFORE if EVEN the anime.
