Excellent first tool set for Daddy's Little Helper,

My nearly 3-year-old daughter received this as a gift - toy tools were requested because of her interest in Daddy's real ones. This set does not disappoint. From her "Oh my gosh!" upon opening the gift to playing with it every day it has been a winner. Daddy is especially impressed too.
The pieces are sturdy. They come apart and hold together where they are supposed to. The tape measure only allows measuring up to 24 inches, but it retracts well from being pulled all the way out. The drill drills "holes" in the piece of "wood", and it works Forward and Backward to screw and un-screw the nuts and bolts. The handles come off the two screw drivers to allow the phillips and flat head to attach to the working drill, allowing another way to work the screws into and out of the "wood". The hammer is solid but light, so it works well on the plastic nails but can't hurt any more than any other toy if used against someone. ;) The wrench and pliers have yet to see much use, but both seem like they will hold up to the use. The tool belt can't tighten enough to stay on my daughter's skinny waist, so it is sitting in the tool box waiting for another day. However, we fit all the pieces nicely onto it when trying it out the first day. The case itself is another sturdy piece. It holds all the pieces with extra room (we took the white plastic packaging out so all the pieces are tossed in there together). This is a very inclusive set of tools for younger kids - boys or girls. I can see it being interesting up to at least age 5. Overall, a very good bet for a toddler/preschooler tool set.

I purchased this for my daughter's 3rd Birthday. She loves helping daddy around the house from using a screw driver or measuring tape, she's right there by his side. We thought it would be a great for her to have her own tool kit and tool belt. This toy was such a hit, she absolutely loves it! It has all the essential tools, from hammer, to screw drivers, drill, measuring tape and more. The case is a generous size and everything included is very durable, nothing cheap here. We definitely made the right choice with this selection and I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a tool kit for their child, grandchild, etc....you can't go wrong with this one!!!!

My daughter has loved this since I got it for her when she was about 16 months old. The set stores in its own carrying case, which keeps it all together. The drill is so realistic it even has interchangeable "bits" (the two screwdrivers come out of their handles and fit into the drill if you take the drill bit out) so you can power screw and unscrew. It has a reverse setting, just like a real drill. You can pretend to drill through the plastic "board" with a neat mechanism that turns a gear inside the board to open a little door to let the drill pop through. My daughter also loves to pound "nails" into the plastic "board" and take them out again with the claw end of the hammer, and she is getting the hang of screwing and bolting, although she mostly makes me do the hard part right now at 21 months. She likes to run the saw into the groove in the "board" to pretend to cut, and it makes a nice "ricky-ricky" sound. She adores the tape measure, since it is just like Mommy's! She counts up how many inches long things are. The pieces in this kit fit together and actually work properly, as I would expect them to. My daughter doesn't wear the toolbelt at all, though, as it is sized for an older child and just falls off her. Sometimes she still tries to put it on and put all the tools in, but they don't stay very well. We just keep the belt in the case and play with the tools on their own. I highly recommend it, and I am buying another one for the boy across the street.

I bought this for my 3 yr old brother as his Christmas gift and he loved it. The tape measurer and hammer were his favorites until we put the batteries into the drill. The kit is realistic looking, fun, and not over-priced. The plastic seems sturdy enough.
My only complaints would be that the drill bit does come off easily, and after the 1st day the tape measurer broke (the tape might've been jerked out of its container though). The tool belt is made of a pliable plastic but I kind of expected it to be more pleather-ish. Also the black clasps on the case fell off but I dont know if it's supposed to do that. Other then that, I think it's a good buy and would recommend it.

I will admit that all in all, my 4 year old really enjoys using this toy. However, that said, it is important to note it's (rather large) shortcomings.
The tool belt will NOT stay on. My little guy is not overweight, but the tool belt has fallen off so frequently that he won't even wear it anymore. This is the whole reason this set was bought, as he LOVES tool belts. The drill was broken almost as soon as we got it out of the (very nice hard plastic) case. The bit won't spin, but the motor makes a sound as if it should be spinning. It's like something is broken on the inside. My little guy has more amusement in carrying around the plastic case this all arrived in - and not the tool case, but the weak plastic pieces it's held together in that you would normally throw away - than wearing the tool belt. Pass this one up and get some wooden tools, they hold up much better. I thought this was a deal, unfortunately I was wrong.

I bought this for my nephew for Christmas. He just turned 3, and out of all the toys at the family dinner, this was the one he was playing with the most. It's fun and easy to get at, and besides getting the batteries in the drill, no assembly required.
The tools themselves are what you expect. The case really isn't all too fancy and I can see them all just being tossed in there at some point without any distinct place, because the holders for each of the tools is pretty flimsy. Overall I really like it, but the reason why I got it was that it was a "tool belt" and that was the one thing I was not very happy with. The belt itself is plastic, and does not stay clipped together well for a 3 year old on the move. It's a cheap plastic belt basically, and that's why I wouldn't really recommend this for other folks. If you just want a fun little tool set with a box to put em in, go for it. If you're looking for a nice little toolbelt, look elsewhere.

This toy was a huge disappointment. It is poorly made. As other reviews note, the tool belt does not work well at all. The only way it will stay on is if you feed the belt through belt loops on your childs pants. The clasp won't stay in the plastic belt at all. When we got the toolbox, the pliers broke into two halves immediately, although we snapped them back together. My son cried the first time he used it because he got so frustrated with the belt and when he tried to use the pliers after we put it back together it broke again. Today the measuring tape broke. It's very disappointing because of the poor quality and it really doesn't build much of anything. Save your money and get something else.

This is the first review I've written in a while - really disappointed in the quality of this (even at the low price). Everything is presented very nicely in the case. Within 30 minutes of using, the drill broke -- its motor still runs, but it no longer turns the bit. The work belt has a completely ineffective buckle. The buckle releases as soon as my 3 year old son starts to move around while wearing it - and that's with no tools attached to the belt. The rest of the non-mechanical pieces are fine and realistic looking enough for a little kid. Fortunately, it's hard to mess up with a simple plastic mold. As long as your expectations are along the lines of this review, if shelling out a few bucks for a suite of tools to engage in imaginative play is what you basically want -- this would be okay.

My little boy of nearly three adores Bob the Builder and I thought this would be a good toy for him. Very good value and he enjoys playing with all the tools. The only downsides are the drill bits come off very easily from the drill and the tool belt is quite hard to secure around a tiny waist ...

I was disappointed by the quality of this set. The pliers broke after only 1 day. The tool belt we received does not close well so it cannot be worn. I would not purchase this again.
