This book, perfectly sized to fit in a purse when on an expedition to either a drug store or an up-scale department store, provides make-up and related information for those who don't know where to start as well as those who are interested in trying a new line. I bought ten copies as holiday presents for friends here in Tucson (even though the book is geared for New York City, much of the content is applicable nationwide -- time for one for San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Minneapolis, Phoenix and even Tucson!)and appreciated tips on make-up removers, brush care, website links, book suggestions and much more. Weinstein's candid remarks were so much more helpful than much of the advertising sales lingo that is provided in advertising and the extensive glossary was particularly helpful to this reader to help understand the information provided on various products.

Thanks to Pretty City, I found out about Ella Bache Spa, an absolute gem in the heart of Midtown Manhattan! I haven't visited many of the other places mentioned in the book but Ella Bache's treatments, customer service, prices and products were just as great as Pretty City described. It's too bad that some of the other readers didn't encounter as much luck. Maybe they haven't been to Ella Bache?!

Weinstein not only knows her material, she's very fun to read. Vivid descriptions, concise tips and fair reviews make this book a delightful read. Hoping Kim will start writing for LA and other cities soon!

I wasted my hard earned money and time on this awful makeup book. Obviously this author does not know much about nyc or makeup!!!!!!! Save your money.

I think the book would have been better if it was geared more toward finding quality goods and services in New York City proper (including the outer-burroughs) than ratings of well-known cosmetics lines. Unless the lines are New York specific that information can be gotten elsewhere. I was hoping to find some good manicure/pedicure spots and hair salons. I will try the facialists and brow waxers she mentions.

Not helpful or worth your time reading. I read an article about this book so I bought it. Maybe the author of the article was a relative of Ms. Weinstein.

This book did not help me at all. It doesn't relate to New York City Life. Maybe the Author just moved here.

This book is a must have for New York women. Kim Weinstein makes the overwhelming and crazy world of beauty in NY simple and fun. The perfect gift for all of your girlfriends!

Do not waste your money!
I wouldn't even give a star, but Amazon.com made me. It was that bad!
