3.0 out of 5 stars Probably good for right mindset child
I know - everybody loves this game. What's not to like? Well in my case, it's my 4-1/2 yr-old who played with it once and has shown little or no interest in it since. Granted she likes princesses but she doesn't LOVE them like lots of other girls. But I think the real issue is the relative lack of challenge. We got Monopoly Jr. at the same time (both for Christmas)...

My daughter received this as a gift for her 5th birthday and it was an instant hit. It's an easy game to learn and because all players get to "dress up" while playing, the game becomes a fun activity which holds the kids' attention. Playing along with a willing Dad or big brother is a hoot, as the only way they can win is to obtain -- and wear -- all of the jewels in their "collection".

One word of advice: Keep the game stored out of the way of little ones when not in play. Wearing the jewelry "just for fun" is a big temptation for a five year old. If you loose track of the pieces (of which there are over 20), you'll need to find substitute jewelry or the game can't be played.

While visiting my(4year old) Granddaughter she convinced me that we needed to play Pretty Pretty Princess. How very delightful this childs game is. We had so much fun putting on all the jewelery and of course the crown.I found it interesting to watch her count around the board and know what she had won or lost in the round.Plus I thought it helped teach that we can't always win the biggest prize ,but we have to be happy for the winner and share.I am now buying it for another Granddaughter (5years old)and am looking forward to watching her excitement in wearing the crown..

THis game is so CUTE! My daughter was hospitalized with Pneumonia the Day after Christmas, and she was more or less comfined to her bed! One day she just really wanted her daddy to stay with her and play this game. And he did and he HAD to wear the crown which put a smile on her face! She has been home for 2 days now and she even has her older brother playing it with her. We love this game! Perfecet for little girls!

We bought this game for our daughter for her 4th birthday. She loves to play dress up. This game was perfect for her. We play
every day! She absolutely loves it and it's easy to play. When
we're not available to play she plays with her dolls, including her E.T. doll! We are buying Pretty, Pretty Princess as birthday gifts for all the little girls we know. Even dad took part in this game! I would definately recommend this one. It has made our daughter so happy!

My daughter received this game for her 5th birthday and she loves it. Also, this game has been fun for the whole family to play. Most of the time you have to suffer through playing the little kiddie games but with this game, I actually initiate the game. We also use this game to teach my child good sportsmanship and to take turns, also to count. As I have read in other reviews; it is hilarious when the Dads play. We will definitely be purchasing this game for all the little girl birthday parties that we attend.

5.0 out of 5 stars A lot of fun for little money...., January 11, 2005

My 3 year old just received this game for the recent holiday. She is able to play with minor assistance and loves it. There is a plastic spinner with #'s 1-4. You must spin and then move a colored pawn the # of spaces the spinner indicates. Spaces are labeled with individual jewelry pieces or instructions such as "put once piece back" or "take any piece you wish". When you land on a space indicating that you can take a piece of jewelry you must take pieces that match the color of your pawn. For example, pick all things pink if you selected a pink pawn. The goal is that children acquire a complete set of jewelry (2 earrings, 1 necklace, 1 bracelet, & ring) + the crown in order to win. Watch out for the dreaded black ring though! You can't win if it's in your possession!

We also purchased the Disney princess game: Spinning Wishes. It was much more difficult for my daughter to play and not as enjoyable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Darling game that is always fun to play, January 12, 2005
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars

We have had this game for 2 years now and my daughter still loves to play. Of course for her half the fun is getting her good natured Dad and/or Brother to participate so they will have to wear the jewelry and crown!

The game is simple enough for very young children to understand but they won't outgrow it too quickly. My daughter is 8 now and she and her friends still love the game. The black ring adds a little excitement to the game since you can't win while you have it and it is not to easy to get rid of.

I like to play this game with my children because they have so much fun with it. They always think it is so funny when I have all the jewelry on with the crown and they always burst into giggles.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple and Fun!, September 20, 2005

I bought this game for my 3 year old daughter. She had a lot of trouble understanding Candy Land and Chutes and Ladders, so I was worried that it would be too difficult. However, the rules are simple and she caught on very quickly. Even her 4 year old cousin (who doesn't have a great attention span) loves the game and manages to play it all the way through. The only problem I had with the kids were some pretty intense battles for the crown, which did result in some fighting. Just one more thing, if you are looking for an educational game, this isn't it. But if you are looking for a fun and easy game that you and your kids can enjoy together, I'd highly recommend this game.

4.0 out of 5 stars Granddaughter loves it, October 29, 2006
This review is from: Pretty Pretty Princess Dress-Up Board Game (Toy)
Granddaughter started playing this game, with help, at age 3. She's 5 1/2 now, and doesn't ask for it quite as much as she used to. However, when she was younger, she loved it.

There's nothing quite as endearing as watching a little girl play this with her daddy, grandpa, and uncles and seeing them wear the earrings and crown. The game is easy and quick. Just remember, the game pieces should not be played with outside of the game, because if they are lost, the game suffers.

I highly recommend this for the little princess in your life.

Granted she likes princesses but she doesn't LOVE them like lots of other girls. But I think the real issue is the relative lack of challenge. We got Monopoly Jr. at the same time (both for Christmas) and we have been playing that almost every night for the past several weeks. So my recommendation is to buy this game if you have a 3 yr old (and older) who loves princesses. Think twice if your child is older and is into more advanced games already because if they are this game has the potential to be a very short-lived thrill.
