5.0 out of 5 stars Very Smart and Amusing, April 10, 2006
This review is from: The Prevalence of Nonsense: A Lively Discussion of the Cheerful and Sometimes Ghastly Beliefs by Which We Live (Hardcover)
I thought this little forgotten relic was as interesting as it was entertaining and educational. The book's purpose: debunking popular myths and misconceptions. Particularly interesting was the section discussing the popular myths of race -- it never fails to amaze me as an American how we're supposed to be "equal" and we still aren't. It covers medical myths, urban myths, even myths about food and animals! It's a short, fun read, and will put thousands of dimples and wrinkles in your brain.

This is a good book to pass a few hours enjoyably and to learn a few facts in the bargain. This book debunks popular myths. Some of the discussions are outdated--the book is almost forty years old.
