5.0 out of 5 stars Where has this been all my life!
In the past I have tried Flea and Tick collars with the same results most people get, they simply never work. I live in Miami FL, which is tick season 365 days a year. Usually the ticks are at a manageable level but this summer was out of control. My laziest dog had up to 30 - 40 ticks at one point. 1.0 out of 5 stars EXPIRED PRODUCT MAKE SURE TO CHECK YOURS
I bought 2 of these 2 packs and the collars are active for 3 months. All 4 of the collars were set to expire within 1 MONTH from the date I received them. I called the company who took 2 minutes to check the rest of their inventory only to find that all of the boxes that they had in stock had the same expiration date. I was told that it would be "not so easy" to just get...

In the past I have tried Flea and Tick collars with the same results most people get, they simply never work. I live in Miami FL, which is tick season 365 days a year. Usually the ticks are at a manageable level but this summer was out of control. My laziest dog had up to 30 - 40 ticks at one point. I rushed them to the vet, they used Frontline and I thought my issues would be over. Three days later the ticks came back with a vengeance and were eating my dogs alive. I then used Google looking for a pill like Capster (24 flea killer) but for Ticks. I couldn't find one but Preventic kept popping up. I kept saying that this stuff will not work because the Flea and Tick collars never work. I was so desperate though and saw that there was more positive feed back then negative.

Two days later I received the package. I placed it on my dogs and went to bed. The next morning I decided to check my dogs and was pretty sure nothing will have changed. Well I was wrong, all the ticks were gone. The ones that were still there, you could see were dying. The next day I saw that they had ticks sitting on their fur, but the ticks did not venture to the skin. So far I am on month 2 and non of my dogs have ticks anymore. Even in hidden places like ears and arm pits show not one tick.

I will say this though, I have one dog with sensitive skin and after using this the first day, I noticed a burn like mark in two places of his body. I took the collar off but then saw that the ticks were coming back and since then the collar doesn't bother him. Maybe its the first initial use that got him. Watch your dogs for at least 24-48 hours.

Also as a note, this collar does not work on Fleas, I use a shampoo called Sentry, which has a ingredient in it to break the fleas life cycle, kills the eggs and all and makes adult fleas sterile. Since using that shampoo, my dogs have never had fleas.

I was told that it would be "not so easy" to just get a new stock in and send me replacements. Instead I am to send the collars I have back and they will credit me. I'm skeptical that I will get a refund because the whole call just made me uneasy, but we'll see. It's better to buy these collars from a more reliable company and spend a little more because the collars are great and work when not expired.

We live in a wooded area, and ticks are a problem year round. Even usuing Revolution our dog still got Lyme disease. Since using these collars, ticks are not a problem at any time of the year. Amazing.

I've never left a product review before, but this "tick collar" was so bad i had to do something. So, i purchased this for my one year old cavalier spaniel because i had been picking 5 to 6 ticks off of him every night. he's worn flea collars before with no problems and i figured a "tick collar" would be similar. good amazon reviews and desperation led me to quickly buy these collars. arrived in the mail fine, seller was top-notch. i opened the box and quickly put the collar on my dog because i wanted to remedy his suffering ASAP. cut to that night, i have a stomach ache (oops, didn't wash my hands after handling the collar) and my dog is acting weird. that's when i decide to read the cautions. normally these papers all read the same, but this one starts out with "..may cause severe depression in dogs.." and continues with"..DO NOT TOUCH WITH BARE SKIN.." and wraps up with "..KNOWN TO THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA TO CAUSE BIRTH DEFECTS..". that's when i wished i had washed my hands before eating those chips. but i still left the collar on my dog because i really wanted him to be rid of those damned ticks. the next day. i wake up still sick. my dog is still weird. i take the collar off of him later that day and gave him a bath. the next day he was back to his normal self and i went back to pickin' off the ticks. now i just need to call the local "hazmat" crew to get rid of these collars....

I've been using these for a couple of years now, after we moved into a house in the woods, with plenty of ticks around. It was recommended to me by a friend who is an entomologist, and it works great. The only ticks I see are dead ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS COLLAR REALLY WORKS!!!!!, December 16, 2011

we live in florida-as other reviewers have mentioned, the warm climate allows for tick season year round. last summer we had a horrible time with ticks on our two dogs-on any given day my husband and i would pick 50-100 ticks off each of our dogs(Bull Mastiff and Boxer). my neighbors even took pity on us and would come over to help because the situation was so bad. we tried EVERYTHING - frontline, advantage, adam's, hartz, collars, liquid, bombs, garlic, basil-you name it--if I found something that worked for someone else, i tried it. the exterminator was out every two weeks(they would not come more than that)and every morning and evening my husband would spray our home and yard with our own spray. my poor dogs never had so many baths and so much picking. it was awful for all of us. anything at all that said it would help get rid of and prevent ticks we tried but nothing seemed to work until I found the Preventic collars. we bought the collars and put one on each dog with great skepticism as nothing else we had tried worked but we figured what the heck and gave it a shot. the collar said it would work in 24 hours-sure it would. but we tried anyway and the doggies got new 'necklaces' and we waited 24 hours. the next morning we went to begin the lovely process of picking the ticks off our babies and lo and behold-there were NO MORE TICKS on either dog! we have been faithful with replacing the collars every three months since then and have had no problem whatsoever.the seller delivered sooner than expected (as I have often found with purchasing thru Amazon.com) and the product was exactly the same as purchased thru my vet for twice the price. I highly recommend the product and the seller and have been able to enjoy time playing with and petting my doggies rather than removing ticks for hours on end.

I bought these collars as I had very good experience with a product called Mitaban, which is a mange treatment for dogs. While the Mitaban is a dip, these Preventic collars contain the same chemical. BUT...these collars are virtually ineffectual against ticks on dogs. I put the collars on as per the directions, on my two dogs. For the next week, I was pulling ticks off the dogs, AMAZINGLY close to the collar that were still alive. There were a few fully engorged ticks I found on the floor, apparantly if the ticks are near the collar long enough, some may die, but this is NOT an effective product for preventing and killing ticks. On a scale of one to ten....maybe a 1.

I was impressed with the reviews so I bought it not knowing that it was just a tic(k) collar. Called company to return had no problems returning but was not happy that the collars were close to expiration date, within 5 months. My Vet had warned me about online pet companies doing this but thought I would try it anyway. Went to Petsmart to get a flea collar from Sentry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worked for my APBT & looking to use them for our 2 Rotti pups too!, March 28, 2011
This review is from: Preventic Tick Collar for Dogs 2 Collars (Misc.)
I bought these after the K9 Advtix wasn't doing enough to keep the ticks from latching on my 1 yr old ABPT in 2010. My vet recommended it and so I bought it. Each collar about 3 months as advertised. I try to keep my energized Pitty active, so she has taken the collar swimming in ponds and the sea, running through all kinds of brush & forestry behind our house (where ALL of the ticks came/come from) and to the dog park. I found that none of those activities interfered with it working. I am very happy about this and now that spring is approaching I will be buying this again for my now 2 yr old ABPT and our two 1 yr old Rotti's. :)

A MUST BUY FOR ANYONE DEALING WITH A HEAVY POPULATION OF TICKS!!!
