Product Description

This book is written specifically for those couples who have not faced the issue of affairs--and want to prevent ever having to face it. Peggy Vaughan explains the need to focus on preventing affairs before there is any threat to the marriage. Challenging the assumption that couples can assume monogamy just because they intend to be monogamous, this guide reveals: --No one is exempt from having affairs disrupt their lives. --Attitudes and beliefs are not sufficient to prevent affairs. --Actions and behaviors throughout the marriage are essential. --Responsible honesty is the most important factor in prevention. --Everybody has a role to play in supporting couples' efforts to maintain monogamy, including parents and society as a whole. Peggy Vaughan is an internationally recognized expert in the field of extramarital affairs, having spent 30 years helping people through her many books and her two websites: www.dearpeggy.com and www.preventingaffairs.com.

5.0 out of 5 stars Are you in love and getting married? READ THIS FIRST!!!, May 29, 2008
Take it from me.....I am living proof. This is a book to read BEFORE committing to a relationship. It should be part of premarital counseling everywhere! NO relationship is immune from infidelity...even the ones with the best of intentions. I know because my marriage ended because of it, and I lived for many years in denial. You should know that an affair can happen even in loving relationships. This book gives you tools to prevent that BEFORE it happens. "Prevention is the best medicine" most certainly applies to marriages.....don't put your heads in the sand and pretend that an affair cannot happen in your relationship......it can! Buy this book for yourself, your spouse or someone you care about.

5.0 out of 5 stars We all need this. Yes, you too., June 4, 2008
You exchange your vows. Then you exchange your rings. You take it very seriously. The beauty and poetry of the vows protects you from then on. The purity and symbology of the gold of your rings affirms that protection. Right? No! This is romantic and traditional - virtually required societally, but has no bearing on whether or not affairs will occur in your marriage. None. Actually, if you take the promise of these vows literally and rely on their magical promise of security from that one precious event, affairs become more likely. Yes, more likely. Security is only achieved by working for it day-by-day, just as life is lived. It comes through commitment with your partner to simple day-to-day proactive honesty. It's not easy. But let Peggy tell you about it, now that I've provoked you. There's no one better able. Peggy talks to you as a friend. No lectures. No homework. When you're finished, you simply understand. Shed the obfuscating cloak woven of magical thinking, cultural tradition and conventional wisdom that we all take on as members of a complex and often misguided society. See the bright reality of the kind of human relationship that's possible that lies beneath. Read Peggy.
