5.0 out of 5 stars all the facts and fallacies of breast cancer, August 23, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Preventing Breast Cancer: The Politics of an Epidemic (Paperback)
Dr. Read has assembled all the facts and fallacies of breast cancer in a fascinating, if chilling, read. Lifestyle factors and an environment bombarded with potent, life-altering chemicals seem to be the causes for breast cancer that science has not yet been able to prove. Read concludes that social change is the most potent preventative to the rising breast cancer rates worldwide. Many of the risk factors for breast cancer are related to delayed childbearing as women get their educations and establish in careers. Among other startling suggestions, Read proposes that society offer more support to women so that they may begin having children at an earlier age. With public and work-site facilities for breastfeeding, guaranteed educational opportunities for young mothers, and help with childcare, women would be able to begin their families at a younger age.
