5.0 out of 5 stars The Yummiest Food Imaginable
You don't have to be diabetic to get great things out of this cookbook. I myself am not diabetic but like this book because it is full of recipes that are so delicious and yet so cardio friendly. Your inner health nut and your inner gourmet can both be satisfied! I've been working my way through the wonderful recipes and wowing my friends with the results. My fiance,...

3.0 out of 5 stars a little disappointed
The book was new as stated but I am a little disappointed in the contents, the diet is unrealistic to most people in my opinion, at least for my husband. The information in the beginning of the book would be useful to someone new to this medical problem..

Your inner health nut and your inner gourmet can both be satisfied! I've been working my way through the wonderful recipes and wowing my friends with the results. My fiance, who is generally the least cardio-conscious eater imaginable, actually asks me when I'm going to cook something out of this book because the dishes are so fabulous. The author makes wonderful use of lots of different spices so you don't miss the salt. I especially recommend the "Cinnamon-Rubbed Pork Loin with Roasted Apples & Onions".

5.0 out of 5 stars diabetic cookbook, October 6, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This Prevention Diabetic Cookbook is wonderful. It not only is full of great recipes, but facts about what refined white flour and sugar do to our systems as a diabetic and/or a non-diabetic person. These are facts that should be taught in school. This information would be a wonderful bit of knowledge as to why Americans are in an obesity epidemic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book with good recipes and information., August 18, 2008

As a diabetic I wanted a cookbook that would help me increase not only a better eating plan, but help me add more fiber. I have seen a significant inprovement in my numbers as I have made fiber rich glycemic choices and added these recipes.

But this book is also more than a cookbook, as I was surprised to find it also has much information and inspiration for dealing with diabetes.

It is worth the buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars diabetes cookbook, June 7, 2009

Although this cookbook has many great diabetic recipes most of them require many ingredients that you would not have normally in the house. Calories are high on some so if you are also trying to lose weight a lot of the recipes do not support it. I did find the breakdown of food very useful and some of the meal plans were good. Some high fiber recipes should be introduced slowly.I would have given the book a higher rating if I did not have to buy so many specialty items.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT FOR EVERYONE, SAVED OUR LIVES!, May 3, 2010
This review is from: Prevention's Diabetes Diet Cookbook (Paperback)
This book is awesome! My dad has diabetes and this book really changed our lives. The start off meal plan is easy and everything is delicious! My mother, my husband and I also ate our meals straight out of this book with my dad and we all lost weight and felt great. Eating better really makes a difference in all aspects. I lost 25 pounds right away and my dad lost even more and his diabetes is under control. MY TIP: Don't consider it a diet, because it doesn't feel like one! It's just eating better to feel better and be better! Making healthier choices is easy for all of us now. I'm glad we decided to do this for my dad because it ended up helping all of us!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Reference, May 23, 2010

I decided, on my own, to begin a diabetes-type diet --- my blood glucose count was a bit high (for the first time) at my last physical exam. So --- rather than wait, I did some research and changed my eating habits. Although I have, so far, had no professional guidance, I find this book easy to follow --- the diet explanations are clear and the recipes easy --- the results delicious. One of the best purchases I have made.

I purchased this Diabetes cookbook because first I am a Type 2 Diabetic, secondly I wanted to try and find a cookbook that actually had ideas for breakfast that were healthy, satisfying and most important tasted good.
the recipies in this book along with a sensible diet plan helps me meet my
goals and helps me keep my numbers in a good range. All the recipies are easy to make and taste good too. It would be nice if someone would just
write a breakfast cookbook for diabetics or those who have to watch their
carb intake.

Got for my father in law (type 2 insulin dependent) and my father (type 2 non insulin dependent). Great ideas, everything generally takes about 45 minutesi ncluding prep and cooking, but I suppose all cooking does! We enjoyed teh 2 different phases... offers good meal plans, would definitely recommend to a diabetic who is interested in cooking and helping their diet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read, easy to understand, more than a cookbook, October 5, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book has done a good job of giving you great information about a whole foods diet without being "preachy" or extreme. Information is clear and concise, gives great testimonials and follows it up with a reasonable diet plan and recipes. It is more than just another diabetic cookbook. 1st half of book is full of important info on the value of a high fiber, balanced diet and how that impacts your blood sugars. It's not one of these extreme diets where you eat no carbs and a lot of protein. Talks about the value of a balanced diet including carbs and what kinds of carbs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good easy to follow recipes, but some modification may be needed, November 26, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Prevention's Diabetes Diet Cookbook (Paperback)
I had skimmed this book in the library, and then bought it. I'm a very inexperienced cook, but it's recipes were easy to follow for me, and turned out to be quite tasty. On some, I've made some modifications to suit my taste, when I repeated them, and my wife is delighted with what we've tried. I haven't tried the complete diet plan, but I am making modifications in my diet which haven't left me hungry and I've lost weight.
