Format: Hardcover
This is a really great book for people looking for freezer recipes--both the kind that you cook and freeze as well as those you want to prepare, package, freeze and then pull out for quick cooking. ALL recipes have nutritional breakdowns for those who have dietary restrictions to follow.
The recipes are for REAL food--not the typically frozen stuff. I was thrilled to find a variation of my favorite Chicken Paprika that was freezer-friendly. And Snapper with Orange Sauce...? Butternut Squash Risotto...? There are chapters for soups/stews/chowders, fish & shellfish, breads/muffins/quick breads, desserts/cakes/cookies--even sauces and condiments!
The beginning of the book has an excellent primer on the benefits and basics of freezing; how to do it withOUT a standalone/comm'l freezer; cutting grocery costs; thawing--including thawing quickly and safely; and planning.
Overall, a really good--and versatile--book for making your life easier when it comes to cooking!!

I purchased this book several years ago and I find that it is the cookbook that I take down from the shelf most often. I am busy and don't have a great deal of time to cook but I insist that when I do cook the food must be delicious and convenient. The food satisfies my palate and the fact that I can freeze the meal into ready made future meals satisfies my lifestyle.

I absolutely love this book. I checked it out from the library about a year ago and checked it out again two months ago. I have to return it now and have decided to buy it for my own. This book has wonderful ideas for cooking both for and from the freezer. It offers great tips like keeping frozen onions on hand for use in meals and making beans ahead of time to freeze for future use and to save money. One of my favorite recipes in the book is for Turkey Sausage Stew (p. 85) because it uses ingredients I almost always have on hand in the freezer and they go straight from the freezer to my stockpot. It's a great recipe for company and of course you can freeze the leftovers. Though the book is from 1998, the recipes and ideas are timeless.

Great recipes and nice pictures in this hardcover cookbook! Would recommend to anyone looking to begin freezer meals or make a meal for someone else (i.e. when cooking for someone who is sick, etc).
