5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic! The book I have been waiting for! October 7, 2010
By Lily
Format:Paperback
I have never had breast cancer but I have a sister and and aunt who had it. I have always been told my chances of developing it were higher than average. I spend my time googling for info, and here it is, all in one place! Plus the author uses the stories of these women and their personal experiences to help guide the reader through the processes associated with being high risk- everything from genetic testing to surveillance and preventative surgery. It is a book I can always refer back to, not "just" a memoir that gets read once and put away, but it reads like one. The thing I like most is that it is not overly technical so that even someone like me who has zero medical back round can understand it.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who has breast or ovarian cancer in the family!

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is a godsend! October 8, 2010
Format:Paperback
My wife, and the mother of my three children, was only 41 when she succumbed to breast cancer. With her family history, we assume she had the BRCA although back then people weren't routinely tested for it. My three children were tested and two of them have it. PREVIVORS is packed with valuable information and is written with wonderful personal stories that make it a delightful book to read. It is must reading for anyone with a family history of breat cancer.

5.0 out of 5 stars ENGAGING FROM PAGE 1 October 9, 2010
By Cheryl
Format:Paperback
Reading the heartfelt and honest stories of these women was extrememly educational and empowering. This book is so vital for all previvors and relatives or friends of previvors. Knowing you are not alone in making the agonizing decisions that come with learning you or a loved one are at a high cancer risk is so reassuring. Whether a previvor decides to "green light" the option of surgery or hold off, knowledge is power. These girls are very courageous in reliving their experiences and reminding us that we all have the power.
