This is a really great cage for finches. The bars are truly 3/8" (haven't measured them, but they are closer than any 1/2" I've seen), so escapes are nearly impossible. It is quite spacious, larger than the standard 32 X 22 flight cage out there by 5" in both directions, which is significant. This cage allows finches a good amount of flight room, which is what they need, since you don't normally let a finch out in your house to exercise. The pitched roof is decorative looking. With a few silk flowers, you can make it look very nice.

There are two very large doors on the front, large enough that I can get my whole upper torso inside the cage. Inside both of those are two small slide-up doors. Each side also has two slide-up doors which either hold the large feeders that come with the cage, or seat perfectly the seed hoppers that you can buy from bird supply sites. I also have a bird bath on one of them. On top of my cage I've placed a full spectrum bird light attached to the "roof" via mini bungee cords.

The wire is fine gauge, so probably not good for chewers, but excellent for finches, as there is less metal to obstruct your view. The bottom tray is METAL, not plastic like so many others, and it's deep, so if you want to use aspen shavings, it will contain them with minimal mess on the floor. There is a removable grate above the tray. That leaves a space large enough for smaller finches to escape, so you can either slide the tray in that upper track, or keep it in the lower track and cover that open space with a piece of trim. I used a decorative piece, painted it white, drilled holes on the ends and used electrical ties to hook it on. It looks fantastic.

Two perches that run the length of the cage are included, but not good to use, as perches should run across the shorter depth of the cage to encourage flying the greatest possible length. I've used a combination of SAFE branches from outside, and perches of varying diameters that can be purchased from bird supply sites. Finches supposedly only use the top half of a tall cage like this, but no one told that to mine. They usually sleep in the top half (caught my goldbreasts sleeping on the floor once, though!), but they fly everywhere, from top to bottom, side to side. The great height was not wasted on my birds.

This flight cage is very easy to clean. My three pairs of finches love it. I've posted some pics. If I could change anything at all, it would be to make it available in charcoal/black like the Prevue F040 flight cage. That said, the white looks pretty and doesn't seem to interfere with viewing the birds.

very good cage, easy to assemble and most of all extremely easy to clean and maintain. i highly recommend this aviary cage its an excellent value.

DO NOT BUY FOR FINCHES! There are too many open "spaces" where finches, especially small finches, can escape. The external caged-bird seed hoppers obtained for finches that I already use do not work on any of the access "doors" because the "doors" are wider than standard, thus allowing additional escape routes for the finches. The metal support for the roof was so bent that my finches could escape through the top, and when the "roof" is secured in place, the screws pull the wire spacing apart allowing other escape routes of at least 2 fingers width. All panels of the aviary are inconsistent in how they fit into the "slots" on the frame, allowing escape routes for finches...might be just fine on one side or end but allow a width of 2 fingers open space on the other side or end, etc. The bottom grill and metal tray jiggle out of place with the slightest movement of the aviary, allowing even larger spaces from which the finches can escape from the bottom (many species of finches are bottom grazers), and the grill and tray have to be very carefully worked into position, not an easy task when they don't slide into place to begin with. I am very, very disappointed in this item. It is, however, very consistent with other Prevue-Hendrix products that I've tried to use; I was hoping for better from this company this time. I bought this item based on the glowing comments of the 1st two reviewers, and all I can say is that the two of them must have obtained an item quite different to what I received...which leads one to wonder about inconsistency in quality control, and who wants that!! I also did not receive a shipping invoice with this item. BUYER BEWARE!

This cage was a big step up for my RCCBs. They really love the flying space and I have not used any perches in the middle so that they are really encouraged to fly around.
The cage itself came in pretty beat up condition. The packaging was torn all to heck. There were instructions in there but they're minimal. It took us a while to get it together.
Many of the pieces of the cage were bent, esp the metal tray, so it had to be bent/hammered back in line so that it would fit.
I did alot of research looking for the right cage for my situation. I do like this cage, just wish it was $100 cheaper.

Good price. love how it could up to 20+ finches and there still lots of room. Not bad price. i enjoy it a lot.
