Editorial Reviews

Review

"As a multi-title Dummies author, I am very impressed by the depth of Prezi for Dummies. It's hard enough to write a book that explains a software program from the point of view of readers who has never used it before.
It's even harder to write a book that puts a new software into perspective and links it to classic visual thinking and storytelling techniques…explaining not only how to use it, but when and why from a content and message point of view." (Roger C. Parker, Published & Profitable Blog)

5.0 out of 5 stars Prezi is the future September 15, 2010
Format:Paperback
I have never liked power point slides. My brain does not work the way they present information. I also think that most PPT presenters hide their boring mindset behind the cool multi media graphics moniker. Prezi opens a whole new world to real people and how the learning and/or sharing experience takes place. This first book helps you with the basics and encourages you to think about your presentation in new and magical ways. It is not a book for knowing all, as Prezi is only in its infancy. It is the opening chapter of a new story in your technology enhanced life. Once upon a time.....

I have reviewed and encouraged many educational entrepreneurs to experience the Prezi dream. Go to my website at myESLfriends and search for prezi. Now this book allows you to step into the driver's seat much faster.

5.0 out of 5 stars Prezi - You need to know it! October 21, 2010
Format:Paperback
Prezi is a fantastic tool. I've been using it since April 2009, and haven't looked back since. Literally, for the first 20-30 presentations I gave at conferences and workshops after switching to Prezi, the first question I got in Q&A was "WHAT DID YOU JUST USE?". :)

That being said, I've seen a lot of BAD Prezi's. Just like you can make a bad powerpoint, you can make a bad prezi. (Once, I felt like I was on a roller coaster while watching another Prezi presenter.)

And that is where this book comes in. This will help you do better with Prezi, and not ruin it for the rest of us. I found many valuable tips not only about Prezi, but also about laying out my presentation format, brainstorming, etc. Very valuable stuff to consider.

Prezi is constantly updating with new features, but this book covers a lot of the groundwork and basics needed to excel with the tool. I recommend it to anyone who uses Prezi, regardless of your expertise level!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond the standard slide deck September 28, 2010
Format:Paperback
Prezi is an innovative software platform for those who feel constrained by the linear nature of PowerPoint, Keynote and other "slideware." It allows you to develop a big picture and move dynamically through it in different ways. Prezi isn't for everyone, and I would suggest you give it a test-run to see if it seems interesting to you. But if you want to learn Prezi, or if you want to stretch yourself and test the limits of what you can do in a presentation, then this is the best book to be found on the subject. There are also some great sections on presentation-building and visual thinking that are valuable whether you use Prezi or not. All in all an excellent book that does a great job of exploring and explaining a cutting-edge platform.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worthless September 25, 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I am very frustrated with this book. Apparently I should have done better research before buying it. I am new to Prezi and thought this could be a helpful way to get familiar. Prezi has apparently developed and changed since this book was produced. The book speaks to an outdated version of the software. Don't bother buying the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better Understanding of Prezi with This Book August 28, 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Prezi is the growing way to present ideas and challenge people to change their behavior. It presents ideas not in linear but in the ways people think about change. There are some good tutorials on the[...] website and also on YouTube. It is hard to comprehend what both are telling you if you don't have the step by step instructions to achieve understanding. "Prezi for Dummies" gives you background needed to accomplish that. If you are making presentations, you definitely need to look at Prezi as a way to do them. If you want to understand the details of Prezi, this is the book to help you. I found it a wise investment. I expect to use it a reference in the days ahead.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not a dummy anymore November 7, 2011
By lmastl
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought this for my team in a corporate environment to see if Prezi had a place in our business communications. One day with the easy to read book and computer and individuals were very comfortable with its uses. We weren't able to find any classes or seminars so this book was perfect.

1.0 out of 5 stars Useless November 17, 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book is heavily focused on instructing you on why you need to build a presentation and does not cover nearly enough about how to actually use the program. Don't waste your money.
