3.0 out of 5 stars Good lubricant, but don't be misled, August 24, 2009
This lubricant is one of the best out there, but please don't get your hopes up by reading the other posts on here as I did. We've been using Preseed (as directed) religiously for over a year and we have yet to conceive. Both my spouse and I have been tested by a fertility doctor and we're both healthy. I've been using Clomid and other injections and having IUIs, but still no pregnancy.

It's not a miracle product. It is a sperm-friendly lubricant (and others are not)and it's easy to use, but please don't purchase this product based on all of the women who say that they used it and within the first month they were pregnant. It does work, I have two friends who have conceived using it, but it isn't a sure thing that you'll use it and get pregnant.

My husband and I are both 32 and have been trying to conceive since May for 3 months. After the first cycle of trying failed I decided to invest in a tube of Pre-Seed after reading all the rave reviews on Amazon. With high hopes we used this religiously the second cycle. Sometimes I used it only externally but on the days around ovulation I used it internally. After trying this on the second cycle of trying to conceive, I am still not pregnant. However, I liked this product enough I wanted to share about it.

Here is a summary of my thoughts on this product.

EASE OF USE: The applicator was very easy to use and clean up after wards. With the smooth rounded edge it glided into my vagina really easily and comfortably, even more so than a tampon. The only thing would be the interruption but sometimes I would apply it beforehand we start the BD. Quantity depends on every individual's needs. FA little bit went a long way for us and after 2 months of using this we still are left with half tube.

CONSISTENCY: The lubricant feel really like the actual body mucus. It was not runny or sticky. We've used KY and that felt more stickier than Pre-Seed. We definitely both loved the consistency. It didn't gave me no problems like yeast infection.

EFFECTIVENESS: Like the title of my entry says, this is not a miracle product! I hoped it would work but after trying it on one full cycle, still a negative! So don't expect this to be a 100% sure thing to help conception. It certainly makes the process a lot easier, more comfortable. It gave me the assurance, and therefore peace of mind, that it is sperm friendly so it helps those guys along their journey to where they need to go :)!

I have continued to use this product now in our third cycle (month # 3) and will keep using it even if we are still not pregnant. Fingers crossed we may be blessed parents soon. Best of luck to all mommy-to-be out there!

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money - canola oil is better and cheaper, January 10, 2010
My wife and I had been using preseed for about 1.5 years without success. We started seeing a fertility doctor. When we informed her we were using this she was already familiar with the product. She said that while it wasn't as bad for TTC as regular lubricants were, there was nothing special about preseed that was particularly helpful either. She told us it was purely marketing to sell the product. She informed us it would be best not using any lubricant if possible. However, if lubricant is necessary, we'd be much better off using canola oil, with the additional benefit that it is a LOT cheaper. We switched to canola oil and subsequently conceived 3 months later (FYI...we did not actually undergo any fertility treatments, so don't think that infertility had anything to do with our failure to conceive).

The doctor's advice and our subsequent success aside, I was not all that thrilled with the product for the 1.5 years that I was using it. I merely continued using it because I was under the impression it was beneficial. However, I found preseed to be a very unnatural and uncomfortable lube. The instructions say to use an entire applicator at a time. When doing so I found the quantity of lubricant to be so extreme that it vastly overlubricated, removing nearly all sensation. We tried cutting back to to half an applicator at a time and found it to be a very unfortunate tradeoff. Unlike normal lubes, preseed seems to start to dry out quickly, and when it does you end up with worse than no lube. Instead it leaves the skin sticky...slightly tacky. That turns out to be not so productive. So when cutting back the quantity, you end up trading over-lubrication for under-lubrication. We tried various quantities in between and could never achieve something that worked well.

On the other hand, the very first time I used the canola oil, I was instantly happy with the way it worked. We took one of our water-based lube bottles, washed it out thoroughly, and filled it with canola oil. That made a much more convenient dispenser than the bottle you get from the grocery store. About 4 drops or so of oil from the bottle turned out to be perfect. It achieved just the perfect level of lubrication and stayed that way. You can adjust the number of drops to your personal preference. The important thing is that oil doesn't really dry out, so whatever quantity works at the beginning will be fine the whole way through.

Did switching from preseed to canola oil help us conceive? I really can't say. Although we certainly had success rather quickly, that could be merely coincidence. However, what I can say is that the preseed certainly didn't help. The only thing it did was give us a less pleasant experience and take a bunch of our money. Even now that we've finally conceived, I'll still stick with canola oil rather than switching back to the water based lube we used to use.

So, I'm giving this product 2 stars instead of 1 only because I think it could have been worse (as the fertility doc said, it wasn't as bad as regular lube). However, it wasn't very enjoyable and didn't give much of the benefit that it claims, and didn't perform nearly as good as a product MUCH cheaper and available in any grocery store, so I can't give it any more than 2 stars.

3.0 out of 5 stars mixed feelings, October 21, 2010
By
First, as a lubricant, its very good. The reason I bought it , though, and I suspect most people do , is to help while conceiving. Here is my experience with it. I have conceived, while using it, twice. Both were chemical pregnancies, though. This made me somewhat suspicious, so I started doing some research and found many, many people with same experience. Obviously, I know its very common, but read on. The product inventor claims it does not hurt sperm. That is somewhat misleading, since I found the actual data, and it does mention that indeed it does damage DNA of about 7 percent of sperm, which is less than other lubricants. If one of those sperm reaches the egg, it most certainly
would result in defective embryo. Also, cervical mucus has properties in it that select only the best sperm, no lubricant can do that. Also, as far as preseed actually helping
in getting pregnant, that may be true for some people. However , I decided not to use anything again and got pregnant right away using nothing. So far so good.
I don't mean to scare anyone and its possible this was a coincidence, but I will always wonder. Just do your own research and decide for yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Too early to tell but hopeful, May 2, 2010

I bought this product after learning that other lubricants can hinder conception. My doctor had not heard of it and recommended Astroglide, but this product was mentioned in the fertility book I bought as being the only product that was OK to use during conception. We have not gotten pregnant yet, but it appears that it is because I am ovulating too late. I hope that this product will help eventually. One word of warning - I never used even half as much in an application as recommended and it was too much. My husband said it was "too slippery" and he could not get friction, so it actually seriously hampered what we were trying to achieve. I would suggest using only 1/4 of the recommended amount and a little externally and then use more if needed, not the other way around. It will both hamper the goal and use up more product than needed. I also washed the applicators with very hot water and reused them as there are only 8 and there are a lot more applications in the tube than that if you use it like I am.

4.0 out of 5 stars This is a LUBRICANT - NOT a fertility treatment, June 25, 2011
This review is from: Pre-Seed Personal Lubricant (Health and Beauty)
After reading many reviews on here of people hoping this would get them pregnant, I feel compelled to write my first Amazon review.

Please realize that this is a lubricant. One that claims to be sperm friendly. It is NOT a fertility drug or magic potion that will help you get pregnant. However, if you suffer from dryness, it may make trying to conceive more comfortable (and give those spermies some more mucus to get to the egg.)

My husband and I have been using this product for a long time, whether trying to conceive or not because it works well for us as a lubricant. The applicator is great because:

1) It doesn't get as messy as other products, keeping your hands clean.
2) It puts the lub where you want it. (in our case internally)
3) Its clear so you can see how much to measure out letting you control how much you need before applying it.

To those who got pregnant within the first several months of trying, consider yourselves extremely blessed. Pregnancy is an unbelievable miracle when you understand fully all the timing, body chemistry and physiology required.

If you suffer dryness problems and you're trying to conceive, it's probably worth the investment to see if this product is comfortable for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great lube, a little pricey, October 29, 2009

This was a great lube that really enhanced our experience, especially for me since I tend to be a little dry. It's easy to use and I'd use it all the time if it weren't so expensive, which is why I knocked 1 star off. I used it during my fertile time and got pregnant the first month using this and the ClearBlue Easy fertility monitor. We'd been trying for 5 months prior with no success.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for TTC, September 17, 2010
My husband and I used this after TTC for many months. We conceived the first time using it. I followed the directions exactly. Another reviewer mentioned it being too much, but I inserted the amount recommended, let it sit for 15 minutes while lying down, then went to the bathroom and "bared" down hard once to release a large blob of it. My husband liked it and it helped us to conceive.

1.0 out of 5 stars Contains parabens, May 28, 2011
This review is from: Pre-Seed Personal Lubricant (Health and Beauty)
I should have done more research other than customer reviews before purchasing this product. I was extremely disappointed when I looked at the ingredient list and found Methylparaben and Propylparaben, which are linked to cancer. I don't know about the other ingredients, but I now have two unused boxes of this stuff because the ingredient list is harmful to one's body. My husband and I have been using coconut oil on occasion but I am unable to find any information if that can be harmful to sperm or not. So more often than not we use nothing...I believe that taking the root vegetable Maca has also helped my CM situation.

Ingredients:
Purified Water
Hydroxyethylcellulose
Pluronic
Sodium Chloride
Sodium Phosphate
Carbomer
Methylparaben
Sodium Hydroxide
Arabinogalactan
Potassium Phosphate
Propylparaben

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a Miracle Product, March 14, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is not a miracle product as I am still not pregnant. But on the plus side it is an enjoyable product to use. I like it much more than KY because it does not have that sticky waxy feel. So I would buy it again as a lubricant, not as a miracle baby maker. I just remember when I bought it everyone who left a review was pregnant in a month and I wanted to write a review to show that it is not a guarantee so that other people do not get their hopes up too highly.
