I recently bought a couple of these pens at a local Hallmark store in a forgotten corner and they were 5 dollars and some change. I have to fill out a lot of paperwork for my job and using this pen made it painless. I immediately went online to order some more, however I see that many places have them as discontinued. I can only assume that is why the price is so high for them on Amazon...?
As much as I love the pen, (5 stars worth) I don't know if the price is right.

These pens work great for those with hand conditions that come with age (they must have many uses but this was the need here). She is a happy camper.

I have arthritis in my thumb, leaving me with a very weak and painful grip and little pincer strength in my right (writing)hand. I had been looking for months for a pen that was easy to hold onto, and lightweight. This pen is it!! The barrel of the pen is a full 5/8 inch in diameter at it's narrowest and 11/16 at the foamed grip area. It weighs practically nothing and is very well-balanced, with just a slight bit of weight at the grip, which keeps the pen to the paper, even if I don't have the strength to push down to keep it there. I am able to just rest the pen in my hand, even with my brace on, and push the pen across the paper to write without pain and struggle. The retraction button is also large and operates smoothly without sticking. I've purchased multiples of this item and have thrown away all the slim instruments of torture I used to write with.

I love the BIC XXL pen! The wide body and foam grip is great for anyone who has had hand pain due to arthritis or carpal tunnel syndrome. I could not find this pen at my local stores so I was very happy Amazon listed it. The only negative was the expense of shipping. I was surprised how much it cost for such a small item. Still, it was worth it to me and with the refills that I also ordered I'll have these pens forever.

This is the one pen that is truely comfortable for people with writing dexterity difficulties due to hand injuries and/or nerve damage. It is comfortable, easy to grip, and the thick barrel is easier to manage than a traditional pen.

This is a terrific pen for me, especially when my arthritis acts up. I can use it all day with ease. I gave a few to a friend with neuropathy problems and she's just as enthusiastic about them.
