From the opening Alleluias by Marius Constant to the closing sonata for trumpet and organ by Naji Hakim, this Hakan Hardenberger/Simon Preston collabration is a testament to the beauty of modern music done well. The sound of the hybrid multichannel disc by Bis is outstanding and the playing of the featured performers and the selections are well-suited to this new format. You won't be disappointed when purchasing this disc. Indeed, it will surprise you how wonderful some modern compositions are ... in contrast to so much of the schlock on the market today that masquerades as "modern." Very highly recommended.
