5.0 out of 5 stars "a man, a woman, 117 cows and an enchanted lake", February 9, 2001
This review is from: The Price Of Milk (Audio CD)
Milan Records presents a compilation of enchanting Russian classical music which inspires the creation of - "The Price of Milk", a quirky romance/comedy film.

Director/writer, Harry Sinclair takes a modern fairy tale set on a New Zealand dairy farm. A magical romantic story (with an enchanted lake) accompanied by Russian music. With composers such as Liadov, Tcherepnin, Rimsky-Korsakov and Rachmaninov, and titles like "THE DISTANT PRINCESS", "ISLE OF THE DEAD" and "THE ENCHANTED KINGDOM", how could this soundtrack not succeed in telling this magical story.

The album is clearly first class, with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra - conductor Valery Polyansky, provides a fanciful sensation and exquisite collection of 20th Century Russian classical music...this is "pure culture shock", so listen and be prepared to take a swim in a vat of milk...a stolen quilt...117 missing cows...including a magical journey to the - "THE PRICE OF MILK"

Total Time: 67:38 on 12 Tracks...Milan Records 73138 35927 2...(2001)

5.0 out of 5 stars Magical!, July 28, 2001
This review is from: The Price Of Milk (Audio CD)
In the liner notes Harry Sinclair (Director of POM) writes that he was driving through the green rolling hills of New Zealand and cows were staring at him. He heard "The Enchanted Lake" on the radio and envisioned a love story taking place in this type of setting. These images in his head became "The Price of Milk".

For those of you who have seen the movie (and if you haven't, please do!), this CD will bring back memories of the cows, the quilt, and the craziness! Even if you haven't seen the movie, the soundtrack is beautiful. And, as you listen to it, your head will run wild with magical thoughts of your own.

Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars The music is the key!, July 19, 2011
This review is from: The Price Of Milk (Audio CD)
The Price of Milk is probably one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen and I think it is primarily because of the music. The Moscow Symphony flawlessly sets the magical, surreal, lovely fairy tale of Lucinda, Rob, and the cows. The music is whimsical and playful, but provides a soul to the movie that the watcher can feel. It also provides the right amount of tension and sadness as Lucinda tries to win back Rob. You will enjoy the music on its own, but you LOVE the music if you see the movie.
