2.0 out of 5 stars Works Well But ..., August 23, 2008

This review is from: Price Pfister 53470CC Parisa Single-Handle Kitchen Faucet with Pull-Down Spout, Chrome (Tools & Home Improvement)
The design is sleek and so far it works. The difference between the two spray settings is negligible. The body may be brass but the handle is very lightweight plastic, a real disappointment. It has no heft. Plumber who installed it said it is not the best brand and that you have to be very careful putting it together or the plastic fitting will be damaged.

Update- 1+ years after it was installed, the automatic return to the regular water flow setting on the handle stopped working. Not a big thing, but disappointing. Would I buy Price Pfister again, no. Am I going to replace it, not yet. I have too much sunk in it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great design, but didn't last long, December 27, 2009
This review is from: Price Pfister 53470CC Parisa Single-Handle Kitchen Faucet with Pull-Down Spout, Chrome (Tools & Home Improvement)
Bought this model seven years ago. Was the best looking faucet in it's price range. After four years, using hot water would actually "self-shut off". Sorta funny actually. When the water was still cold it would run and then as soon as it heated up the faucet handle would move down and turn itself off! We've liked the design so much that we put up with it for another few years that way. We would simply turn it back on again and it would remain on. Last week, though, the unit started squeaking loudly when we rotated the base from one side of the sink to the other. It is a very loud squeak. At that point we decided to purchase a new faucet. This time we went for Kohler. Yes, it was more money. I guess you get what you pay for!

1.0 out of 5 stars piece of pfeces from price pfister, July 23, 2009

This review is from: Price Pfister 53470CC Parisa Single-Handle Kitchen Faucet with Pull-Down Spout, Chrome (Tools & Home Improvement)
The first of 2 pieces of pfeces I tried from price-pfister (only got the second as a free replacement for the first, so at least the warranty was useful).

This pfaucet lasted about 3 years. Over the first year, and continuing the rest of its life, the handle began to be too heavy for the valve (or the valve loosened up) so that it would gradually shut off if you attempted to leave it on. Annoying to say the least when you have to dedicate one hand to keep the water running when trying to rinse large dishes in the sink. Eventually, the nylon/plastic shaft holding the handle to the valve simply broke (under a light touch), and the handle fell off. The shaft is not a replaceable piece. We attempted a temporary fix with various glues and epoxies... none of which ultimately worked.

As mentioned above, we did receive a free replacement from P-Pf, so that aspect of ownership was one bright spot. (although the replacement only lasted a little over a year-- decided not to try to use the p-pf warranty again). However, removal of our 3 year old unit was quite an ordeal as all of the brass parts were heavily oxidized-- cheap, cheap materials underneath the shiny exterior here. Removal of seemingly simple nuts took hours using various tools, chemicals, elbow grease, and cursing.
