As a parent, project manager, and future grandparent, I applaud Kathy Slattengren for this exceptional parenting guidebook. Every page is filled with sage advice; offering new, thoughtful, and caring ways to handle the challenges we face as parents.

I have had the good fortune of meeting Kathy's children and they are some of the most polite, caring, outgoing, and delightful teenagers you're likely to meet. Both are outstanding in school, athletics and have a wide group of friends. They also relate to adults in a respectful, confident, loving way that you immediately realize the wisdom of Kathy's parenting skills.

From a Project Manager point-of-view, I'm hopeful more parents will begin to adopt the lessons that Kathy offers. When they don't, I'm stuck having to manage (or should I say "parent") the professional adults who weren't raised to feel confident about themselves, who don't show appreciation, caring, and don't know how to listen. It is clear that an investment early in a child's life will pay a lifetime of dividends.

As a future grandparent, I look forward to using these newfound skills to help my son and his children to give them love, provide them with limits, listen to them so they feel their being heard, and give them guidance to become the best adults possible.

This book is a quick, yet thorough guide to parenting. Often I spend time looking for the most important information when I read large and in-depth parenting texts. I like how Kathy has laid out the information in a way that is easy to access and makes sense!! It is a great reference and nice to have around in those moments when you feel like pulling your hair out! A definite "must have" to my parenting book collection!
