Just thought I'd respond to the bad review below. I'm not surprised the reviewer found the book redundant. This isn't a book for people who are already Priceline experts. It's for people who haven't used Priceline much, might be confused by its strange way of doing things, and want to save lots of money on travel. I explain all of Priceline's details and jargon in plain English for non-geeks. "For Dummies" books have a lot of repetition because they're big on hand-holding -- we want to make sure you stay with us every step of the way.
The book is an introduction to saving money with Priceline; if you're already an expert, you may want to buy it for your friends and family so you don't have to bid for them any more! I personally think the book is great, but you could have predicted that, huh?

buy it for your dad!,

This review is from: Priceline.com For Dummies (Paperback)
I havent read this book myself. I bought it on Amazon and had it shipped to my father so that he would quit calling me to do his Priceline bidding. "You can do it, Dad." "No, I can't. I need a room in Denver Sunday night."
Now he's done his first bid himself without talking to me. He thought the book spoke to him at his level and was easy to understand. He got a $149 room for $60 on his own. The book more than paid for itself with just his first bid!

Demystify Priceline with this book.,

This review is from: Priceline.com For Dummies (Paperback)
This book takes the mystery out of bidding via Priceline. It also lets you know when you should use Priceline and when it would be better to use conventional reservations. The tips this book give regarding the use of several message boards on the Internet is also invaluable. I really enjoyed the information about the "bid grid" when trying to win hotel rooms. Great work Sascha!

Priceline.com is a great website to save on your travels. This book is great to learn how to use the website efficiently and save tons of money. I stayed in the hotels that I thought I could never and had my dream vacations I thought I would not be able to afford.

Priceline.com for Dummies,

This review is from: Priceline.com For Dummies (Paperback)
I have been using priceline for several years now so I was curious to see what the book had to say about using priceline.
I was familiar with many if not most of the 'tricks' and information Sascha provided in the book. But for anyone who is interested in saving money on their travel arrangements, this book is a MUST. I have probably saved thousands of dollars on hotel costs since I started using priceline, and I used the techniques described in this book in order to do it. For example, this past summer I paid $26 for a Hyatt hotel in Cleveland, walking distance to Jacobs Field. In December I will be staying at a Hyatt hotel in Jersey City, NJ just across the Hudson River from Manhattan for $37/night. This book will tell you how to get those or similar tremendous deals. John

I am a big user of Priceline; it is a great website, and offers amazing discounts. I am pretty familiar with how it works, and I do not understand how this guide helps users get better rates. It is repetitive... not much info!
Dont waste your money on this book!!!! |
