I remember watching this movie on t.v. as a child. Here is the poignant story of a man who can't read. I was, what, nine years old? I read at a 9th-grade level, and I simply assumed that all men could read. Not Jesse Hallum. Cash as Hallum is convincing. One cannot help but feel Hallum's helplessness as he tries to negotiate the world. The movie is persuasive and realistic. The footage suffers a bit from age, but holds its own.

A touching story about an illiterate man trying to "make it" in the "real" world. His initial struggles are tough, but his eventual brave acceptance of his problem was heartwarming. A must see!
