Of all the writers dealing with the vamp universe, Sizemore's world is probably my favorite. However, this is definitely a weaker novel in the series and would NOT be a good choice as a first introduction to her world. While intense sensuality is always a part of this series, this book starts out a little too fast and a little too casual--the leads seem to have no further connection than an itch needing to be scratched. Add to that character weakness, the complicated world of this vamp culture is not explained. That's a real shame because the author has created a great political and social system. The good news is much of this book appears to be a set-up for the next novel in the series and THAT book is the one to anticipate. If you find yourself frustrated reading this novel as a stand alone--just go back to her first two books or wait for the next one.

While for me I Thirst For You with Marc Cage & Joe Elliot has been the highlight book in this series, this tale of Cage's cousin and Joe's sister hooking up at the first couples wedding was still pretty good. It has a beter story line than a few of the other books in the series and it was more suspenseful. The bad guy was not glaringly obviouse for a change and the blending of several of the storylines and characters from this series was good. I don't know that this book could be considered a stand alone though as a first time reader of the series would probably be pretty confused.

The plot shapes out like this: Phillipa, Joe's older cop sister, and Matt Bridger, Cage's brit cousin who is the enforcement for the Family of vampires, hook up at Joe & Marcus's wedding. Matt knows that Philipa is his lifemate but he is afraid she will be targeted by his enemies and so runs away super quick.Flash forward 3 years. The happy Cage couple has just had their first child and it's time for the christening. Both Matt & Phillipa are back in town as godparents. But a psycho vamp has enlisted a few other supernatural friends and they are pulling heists in the same city. As a distraction to Matt the ringleader brainwashes a few Purist vampirehunters to target the baby and then Phillipa. Matt's werewolf buddy Mike, whom we met in Laurent's story is also in town after the baddy but stuck in doggy form. He may find salvation in an odd place though- a vampire magician who will be the subject of Ms. Sizemore's next book in the series.

At the wedding of Phillipa Elliot's sister Josephine to Marcus Cage, she meets Prime vampire Matt Bridger; the pair almost immediately retires to a hotel room for a night of great sex. When Phillipa awakens Matt is gone. They next meet three years later as both are the godparents of her newly born niece. Once again they give in to passion, but this time Phillipa departs first.

Matt knows he wants to be with Phillipa, but he has made too many enemies so he fears for her life if he acted on his desires. As they avoid one another, the Purists, a splinter group of Hunters, try to kill Jo and the baby. The psychic link between Phillipa and Matt leads to him coming to rescue them. At the same time of the house invasion, rogue vampires and a werewolf ally loot Vegas stores and homes leaving vampiric police officer Matt to stop them without exposing his bond mate.

The fun in this exhilarating paranormal romantic police procedural rests with the hero's feeble efforts to stay away from Phillipa in order to prevent the bonding of their already primal heated souls from happening out of a sense of responsibility to keep her from harm. The honorable Matt adheres to the rules governing vampire behavior especially with their treatment of other sentient species. With her latest vampire romantic suspense, Susan Sizemore once more displays that one size does not fit all with this fresh exciting thriller.
