Book Description

September 4, 2012 Moon Shifter Novel (Book 2)
To protect her, he will unleash the beast within…

As his pack’s second-in-command, lupine shifter Liam Armstrong gives orders and takes what he wants—until he meets red-headed, blue-eyed December McIntyre. Liam knows the human beauty is his intended mate the moment he sees her, but December is far too strong-willed to accept his protection.

December, whose brother is the town sheriff, has every reason to mistrust shifters after one killed her youngest sibling. But the forceful and handsome Liam has gotten under her skin in a way she hadn’t thought possible, and the desire she feels for him is almost too much to bear.

When a radical hate group targets all humans known to sympathize with paranormal beings, December is attacked in her bookstore. Reluctantly, she turns to the only one who can help her: Liam. And he is going to take her to places within herself she never knew existed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Incredible cast of characters & a swoon worthy romance September 4, 2012
Format:Mass Market Paperback
As the second in command for his pack, wolf shifter Liam Armstrong isn't used to hearing the word no unless it comes directly from his Alpha. So when he meets December McIntyre, a human, and realizes she is his mate he sets outs to claim her. Much to his surprise she proves extremely resistant to his advances, and making her his won't be a walk in the park. Meanwhile, danger heats up as she becomes the latest target of an anti-paranormal group set on eradicating the world of shifters, forcing her to turn to Liam for protection, even as she shields her heart.

I really loved the dynamic between Liam and December, especially as it changed. From the start, Liam is rather relentless in his pursuit of her being rather strong and almost overbearing at times. Luckily, he did seem to know just when to take a step back to keep him from going overboard, but he sure did stretch the limit to the max. December, on the other hand fights him tooth and nail, thwarting his every pursuit even as it pains her to do so. She's carrying around a lot of damage and guilt over her younger brothers death at the hands of a shifter. So, it is no wonder she fights against her attraction to Liam so hard. However, there was a point in the book where the tide started to change, and I really loved seeing the role reversal as December became much more secure in her desires, even as Liam became much less sure of himself. It was just fun to see her chase him for a change, even if he was being a knucklehead.

Just like the first installment, Primal Possession centers around the main couple, but also provides a good bit of set up for the next. Not only that, but the original couple from the first book also plays an important role, really tying these books together. This style makes the transition between books feel more like a continuation rather than an ending and has pushed this series high on my favorites list in the genre. A lot of my pet peeves in paranormal romances stem from the limited focus each book has. Even though I am a huge romance fan, I like to see characters develop over several books rather than jamming everything into one, resulting in never seeing them again except for cameo/small roles. I realize the books in this genre are generally written that way so they can be read out of order or as a standalone, but I very much prefer the closely knit pattern this series is following.

Between the incredible cast of characters, the swoon worthy romance, and the incredibly high stakes, Primal Possession was a fantastic read from start to finish. Add that to the close knit nature of the books, and this series really stands a step above the rest. In fact, the next one is already on my most anticipated list for next year. So if you like your romance hot with plenty of build up and a plot that sucks you right in, Primal Possession simply is a must read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this book from beginning to end! September 10, 2012
By Amy R
Format:Kindle Edition
I absolutely loved this book. It was so entertaining from start to end. Katie Reus does a fabulous job of balancing the human / wolf side of her shifter stories. When you are reading her stories you feel like they really could happen. That is how real she makes it! Primal Possession had the right amount of mystery and suspense along with love and passion. I never felt like I wanted to skip over parts because I was ready to get past them. Sometimes books add unnecessary love scenes to spice it up or drag out the suspense to keep you hooked, but this story was balanced perfectly.

In this story we get to see Liam pursue December more aggressively. Liam is a very protective shifter and wants nothing more than to keep his intended mate safe. Because of his warrior/alpha status is it so instinctual for him to make decisions about December's safety without asking her. This causes him more challenge since he is dealing with a very independent human. The shifter/human aspect was interesting to watch. So far in the series, I thought Liam and December's relationship was the most fun to read about.

While that relationship was going on the Antiparanormal League (APL) was trying to rid the area of shifters. They tried using humans that were linked with shifters as bait. The Council sent in Jayce (one of their Enforcers) to check out the situation with the Armstrong pack and the APL. The fact that Jayce was the ex of December's friend, Kat, only added to the story.

Katie does a great job writing several storylines in one book. I never felt lost, and was able to keep up with them all. There were some unexpected twists and turns to this story which made it fantastic from beginning to end. There are some very fun surprises along the way, too. She sets up her future books very well. I highly recommend this book and am looking forward to Mating Instinct next!

4.0 out of 5 stars Primal Possession September 4, 2012
By Vanessa
Format:Mass Market Paperback
The shifters of Fontana, North Carolina are still experiencing attacks from the APL, the Anti-Paranormal League. The group has targeted the loved ones of the shifters. They have a very specific reason and they know it is only a matter of time before the shifters give them exactly what they are looking for. The APL members have escalated their attacks in an attempt to see their plan fully culminate. The local law enforcement can only do so much and the Armstrong Cordona Pack is taking as many matters as they can into their own hands.

I LIKED Liam! I can only read so many "you are my mate, mate with me" before the eye rolling kicks in. Liam knew December was his mate the moment he saw her. The sexual tension between them in Alpha Instinct had me anticipating their own book. They did not disappoint. I loved how Liam approached his first relationship with a human. After some advice he decided dating and getting to know her was going to soften her to him. He tried to be patient while waiting for her to acknowledge what he already knew. Now this does not mean he didn't make some unwise decisions in doing what he thought was best for her, but him attempting courting was very sweet.

December makes a halfhearted attempt to fight her attraction, but really why bother when one has access to all that sexy alpha yumminess. She does have a few reasons to be weary of Liam, the lupine shifter who is always there in the shadows protecting her and saving her. Her brothers are the biggest problem. She lost one to an attack and the other is threatening with asinine ultimatums. December is much like Liam in regards to family loyalty. She is also strong and willing to fight for what she wants, just like Liam. I loved a spat scene between them, she starts throwing something at him and it is so apropos for that moment.

The secondary couple Kat and Jayce brought some interesting tension to the pages. I hope that Katie is planning their book next in the series. They are going to have one hell of book.

My only disappointment was there was a little too much rehashing for my tastes. The rehashing also almost pushed into info-dump at one point. One could almost start the series with this book. Granted the reader would miss out on December and Liam's initial meeting. Primal Possession is still a great book regardless of this though.
