Product Description

A meteor struck the Earth, and caused great chaos. Seven gods from ancient times awoke, and are now attempting to take control of the post-apocalyptic world. Primal Rage is a one-on-one fighting game featuring dinosaurs and giant apes as the fighters. The graphics are done with digitized stop-motion animation. Gameplay is similar to Mortal Kombat in that it is viewed from a side perspective, and features deadly finishing moves at the end of the match.

5.0 out of 5 stars "I Like It" February 2, 2001
Talk about an incredibly fun game with unlimited eye candy and incredible realism. I am not one of those "Jurassic Park" buffs, but this game seemed so fresh after I played it multiple hours a week for the past five years. IT JUST DOESN'T GET OLD! A real, true, blue classic. The dinosaurs appear so fascinating and move so quickly and smoothly, and the challenge isn't that bad. The gore in "Primal Rage" is enjoyable: it relives the environment more than just the violent blood. What a great game.

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Story: This game actually has a story to it. A fighting game with a story, who knew. The story is: A meteor struck the Earth, and caused great chaos. Seven gods from ancient times awoke, and are now attempting to take control of the post-apocalyptic world. These seven gods are giant dinosaurs and apes which is pretty cool. Now, as one of these crazy blood thirsty monsters, you are set out to conquer the Earth. The story is pretty good in my opinion.

Gameplay: This fighting game is unlike any other fighting game you'll ever play. I say that because you get to fight as dinosaurs and giant apes, how cool is that ? In this game you play as one of seven dinossaurs/apes (five dinosaurs and 2 apes to be exact). You can either play as Diablo, a hellish looking T-rex, Blizzard, a cold blooded killer ape, Sauron, a crazy telepathic T-rex, Talon, a crazy fast and deadly raptor, Vertigo, the poisonous long necked dino, Chaos, a crazy King kong like ape, and Armadon, a vicious crazy triceratops. Well, just like any other fighting game you got your basic moves like you got your high and low attacks. But, instead of punching and kicking like humans do, in Primal Rage you get to tail whip, bite, slash with your claws, and kick slash with your claws too. Mixing some of those moves up add up to some deadly combos. If you do these fast enough you can make your enemy brain dead for a couple of seconds which means they can't move and it's your chance to get more attacks on your opponent which is very helpful.

4.0 out of 5 stars This game is totally metal July 4, 2013

I am terrible at the game, but it is still an awesome game due to its concept. You get to play as giant dinosaurs and other beasts and fight to the bloody death, juggle a few humans, and your victory claims you that piece of land and your new batch of worshippers. The game plays somewhat like Mortal Kombat, but one would have to look online for a move list, since there isn't a move list or a tutorial for the game. It has an arcade mode and 2 player versus, but that is understandable for the era in which it was released, and the limited space on the cartridge. What sells the game for me is its totally metal concept of becoming giant monsters and doing gory Midway things.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun to play April 12, 2010
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I remember the first time I played Primal Rage it came off as a clone of Mortal Kombat since that was the grand dadddy of all fighting games at the time and huge. You play as a group of dinosaurs that are about to get wiped off the face of the earth by a metor that is about to hit planet earth ending all life you know. You battle it out as either Blizard/Chaos(Ape), Diablo/Sauron(T-rex), Vertigo(serpant snake vodoo lizard), Armadon(spinosarus), or Talon(raptor). Each dinosaru has special moves and finishing moves like Mortal Kombat where they can perform Fatalities on your opponents. Its a fun game that lets you chose your animal and take out your anger on other animals.

2.0 out of 5 stars An original take on fighting games. November 14, 2001
This is a Mortal Kombat clone, with huge amounts of blood, and two fatalities for each competitor. The only difference with this game is that all of the fighters are pre-historic! Two apes, a big dinosaur, a fire breathing legendary dinosaur, a raptor and much more. The gameplay is much like Street Fighter 2, and the gameplay is very slow, because you are fighting as dinosaurs! Another interesting feature is that for those who like to use the same move over and over again, the game laughs at you. Pretty cheap game, rent it before you buy it.

Wish there were more characters but it's ok I guess. The game is not hard once you know your character an learn the moves. One of the Top fighting games of snes.

3.0 out of 5 stars Jurassic period death matches begin! October 10, 2013
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
This is a really fun game, and is one of the better fighting games for the SNES. You play as one of 7 beasty Dinosaurs/prehistoric beasts and battle each one 2 the death on a different continent, when you win you take that land, and when its all complete you gotta work on those tail jabs and kicks, chow down on some half naked worshipers, and sharpen does teeth for the Final battle! And face all of your enemies in one final MEGA round 2 become ruler of the new EARTH! I will say its a good game but it has a lot of cons, but some pros when compared to other ports

For one thing this port has some of the worsed animation I have seen, the Genesis version has superior game speed and higher frame rate for the animation so it looks way better and plays better as well. Some of the backgrounds also look pourly desighned when compared too other ports as well. The music is also kind of weak as well. The one stand out area though for the SNES version of this game is the SOUND! Some of the sounds of the dinos roars to the sound of pounding kicks, flesh ripping bites, and explosions sound like the arcade.

However, I would have too recommend the Genesis version of this game, or the Playstation/Saturn versions also. But this version is ok, its still a pretty fun game overall.

Primal Rage, for what it was worth wasn't that bad of a game. But in the same respect, it wasn't as good either. The graphics were excellent. Read more
