Excellent text! Easy to read, complicated terms are defined in text as you read and each dianosis has complete etiology, pathophysiology, differential diagnoses, treatment, management and follow up, as well as information on when and to whom to refer.

Great reference. I work in oncology but have many patients who come to me with primary care questions (not to mention neighbors, friends, relatives, etc). This reference book has been so helpful in seeking more information on a variety of diseases. Comprehensive, readable, broad and yet inclusive of the data I needed.

I have been a registered nurse for almost 20 years and decided to upgrade my career and become an adult nurse practitioner. I purchased this book as a requirement for my Diagnosis and Management course. For the past month I have spent more time with it than with my husband. I have to say it is a great text. I want to learn well because people rely on your knowledge and skill when they come to you for care. I like the way the authors have organized the book. Each body system and related diseases start with epidemiology and pathophysiology. Next the authors give common clinical presentations, then they help you understand clinical reasoning for making diagnostic and treatment decisions. There are good case studies. I also like the sections on complimentary and alternative therapies. People are interested in CAM and in the real world of practice patients are going to ask about them. The book also has several good tables, charts and flow charts. One thing that would be nice are some graphics on anatomy. But I find it works well to go to my anatomy and physiology textbooks when I need a visual reference. I would recommend this text to fellow nurse practitioner students.
