Book Description

September 1, 1997
Start with a nerdy inventor named Monty Montahue. He wears dorky glasses, sports a perennial cowlick, and considers collecting foil his No. 1 hobby. Pair him with Robotman, a short, cynical android who assists the Renaissance Man wanna-be on adventures of discovery. What do you have? The life and times of Robotman!

Created by Jim Meddick, Robotman has quickly gained a cult following among readers who prize the strip's blend of Monty Pythonesque absurdities, social satire, and pop culture parodies. With an extended cast of characters -- from Monty's freeloading college roommate to his sex therapist girlfriend to two Dobermans who live behind a security fence in the backyard -- Robotman presents an unusual variety of offbeat, adult humor. "Less political than Doonesbury", says Meddick, "less white collar than Dilbert, and more macho than Cathy".

When not cruising the universe in search of humor, Robotman and Monty live in a suburban Everytown, USA, where their appetites for fast food, malls, and other pop cultural institutions lead them on misadventures closer to home. For the daring duo, an everyday pop existence only gives them another launching pad for their next exploit.

Fans enjoy reading this outrageous strip to find out just where Jim Meddick will take them next. They're certain to snap up this book for the very same reasons.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hey, it's Robotman!, August 18, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Primary Crullers: A Robotman Book (Paperback)
If you have read and liked Robotman before you will love this collection! It contains selected strips from around 1994 to the end of -96 (plus two sunday-strips from -97), including the X-File satire where the origin of Robotman and what happened to the Milde-family he lived with finally is revealed! My only complaint is that it doesn't include all strips there is. I want them all, everyone of them!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Conspiracy Theorists strip alone was worth the money!, November 15, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Primary Crullers: A Robotman Book (Paperback)
Jim Meddick has consigned Robotman to exile in outer space since Primary Crullers was published, but Monty continues with Mr. Pi, Fleshy, Moondog et al to amuse us all.

This collection is from the Robotman days and is worth five stars from anyone. The Conspiracy Theorists strip alone is worth the cover price, and I have friends who have fallen off the sofa laughing at some of Meddick's pages.

5.0 out of 5 stars Robotman is the funniest cartoon around, July 7, 2000
By A Customer

I absolutely loved this book. Jim Meddick has a great sense of humor. Please do the responsible thing and contact your local newspaper. If they don't run "Robotman" in their daily comic section, they should. As a former newspaper reporter and editor, I can tell you that it was one of our most popular strips.
