The Deep Knowingness in All Living Things,
By Cynthia Sue Larson "www.realityshifters.com" (San Francisco bay area, CA USA) - See all my reviews (TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
This review is from: Primary Perception: Biocommunication with Plants, Living Foods, and Human Cells (Paperback)
Once you've read PRIMARY PERCEPTION, chances are you'll never see the world the same way again. Cleve Backster's research into the concept of "primary perception," the way in which even the smallest living organisms demonstrate real-time reactions to their environments, will completely transform the way you think about consciousness of cells, plants, and living foods. Not only do your potted plants know precisely the moment you might spontaneously decide to return home, but they also know when living organisms (such as bacteria in your sink) are suddenly killed in their vicinity. Your own human cells that have been separated from your body and monitored will show immediate reactions to strong stimuli that you are exposed to -- even when they are located in a screen cage about fifteen feet away from you!Cleve Backster is my favorite kind of scientist -- rich in imagination, full of questions, and ever-prepared to take note of the unexpected. These rare and dynamic qualities establish Backster as the most likely candidate for the "Father of Biocommunication" title, as he so clearly leads the way for future scientists to reevaluate their assumptions and methods for studying all living things. PRIMARY PERCEPTION is destined to become a beloved classic because it so clearly describes Cleve Backster's nearly four decades of meticulous cutting-edge research in the field of consciousness research. Written in down-to-Earth language and packed with fascinating photographs and charts, PRIMARY PERCEPTION is guaranteed to alter your perception for good! -- Cynthia Sue Larson, author of "AURA ADVANTAGE: How the Colors in Your Aura Can Help You Attain What You Desire and Attract Success"

Book Description,

This review is from: Primary Perception: Biocommunication with Plants, Living Foods, and Human Cells (Paperback)
Backster's tireless years of research in the laboratory have resulted in a giant leap forward to prove scientifically what others have only conjectured about the nature of consciousness.Backster's work offers demonstrable proof of a subtle, yet real, mind/body communication--the concept that captured the public's attention when Norman Cousins published many years ago his famous account of the role of laughter in the cure of his near-fatal illness. Primary Perception details Backster's astounding discovery that the cells of our body--even when removed and observed at a distance--somehow receive the "messages" of our thoughts. As science pushes the limits of wireless communication, not so hard to believe! This book is a must-read for anyone intrigued by the "mind/body connection" and the amazing potential it offers for all of us in this new millenium.

"There is no other door to knowledge than the door Nature opens, and there is no truth except the truths we discover in Nature." Luther Burbank
Many people assume they know all about Backster from the two chapters in The Secret Life of Plants. But read anew! There are many aspects of biocommunication that are opened up in this, his legacy book. Ever thought about whether or not algae knows what is going on? Bacteria in yogurt? The pulses in eggs? Your white cells in a test tube? Becoming mindful of how our actions and thoughts affect the flora and fauna is another aspect. Since this book has been released, it has been printed in Chinese and in Japanese, and I read that it is coming out in Spanish and French. That's the kind of information the book contains, true stories of discoveries that have already shaken the old time physics based on separation of mind and material. Backster's work is the bridge between science and quantum physics, and provides a foundation for understand prayer, meditation, communication over distances. The children of today understand the power of mind to create in this material world, and we have, through Backster's research, a scientific foundation for understanding the heretofore unseen entertwining of mind and living systems. Soon we may be seeing again, hand held devices that measure responses, perhaps in your kitchen or bedroom. Cleve Backster tells of his spontaneous observations, of how he set up ways to record these events using analog equipment, a polygraph and cameras. He even built his own devices back in the 60's and 70's. His experiment with brine shrimp and plants used excellent controls. He has stood up to his many detractors with the truth, and his research has withstood the test of time, from 1966 to the present. He said at the end of the book, "...as one person who has experienced the indifference of many scientists to this field, I can simply state that such high resistance to new ideas does not concern me. I have a truly wonderful ally: Mother Nature."

Communication With Everthing !,
By A Customer
This review is from: Primary Perception: Biocommunication with Plants, Living Foods, and Human Cells (Paperback)
Cleve Backster's astounding experiments communicating with plants, bacteria, and our own cells is a paradigm shift in the way many scientists now view the nature of reality. From the beginning of his first communication with plants on a polygraph to today, 38 years later, this book describes Cleve's exciting adventure to the frontier of science. Anyone who can build a simple electronic circuit can prove that plants are tuning into our thoughts. We have done it and are convinced that consciousness extends to the plant and animal worlds.

I have heard of the work of Cleve Backster in many different places over the years, heard a few radio interviews with him (Art Bell, Jeff Rense, Whitley Streiber, George Noory) and finally, he's written a book explaining it all.
His work does seem to confirm the work of others (who are, to be sure, "newbies" compared to Mr. Backster), such as Lynn McTaggart, as well as some of the late night assertions of Whitley Streiber's strange visitor discussed in his book, "The Key," as well as the Chinese and Japanese concepts of chi and ki, respectively -- or "The Force" to those of us in the Star Wars generation, which apparently borrows liberally from the concepts of chi/ki (see Glen St. John Barclay's excellent book, "Mind Over Matter: Beyond the Bounds of Nature" for a most interesting read as well). Lots of interesting data in Mr. Backster's book ... quite an ideal method to interest a young mind in the field of science, I'd bet. This book is a must-have.

I'm not much for reviews. I'll just say that while Mr. Backster's writing style is very dry and borders on boring, the content is amazing.
The dry writing style only goes to show that this is a pragmatic man who stumbled across something amazing and had the open mindedness to pursue it. I HIGHLY recommend it.

There Is Only The One,

This review is from: Primary Perception: Biocommunication with Plants, Living Foods, and Human Cells (Paperback)
This book was recommended to me by a friend who had a near death experience. I can't thank him enough for turning me on to it.
Anyone with a background in Eastern philosophies would have thought these experiments would be "no-brainers". But the Western world demands scientific proof. And even when they get it, if it doesn't conform to their paradigm, they shoot the messenger. Yep. Nice legacy. How refreshing to find someone who wasn't worried about their reputation, but was seeking knowledge. It can't be coincidence that someone with Clive's background would undertake these fascinating experiments and ultimately come up with the information he did. After I finished this book, I always apologize every time I turn on the hot water in the sink.

This book covers extra sensorial perception on plants and living cells.
It's a very beautiful and very intriguing work by Cleve Baxter, it shows that there are many more things to be studied and explained by science than we can imagine, specially in the subtle energies field.

Cleve has put forth a practical methodology to establish the reality that subtle communications exist between all types of life forms. Cleve's research has established scientifically what our intuition has been telling humanity for thousands of years: even the tiniest organisms have consciousness.

Polygraph expert Cleve Backster was bored one night in 1966 so he hooked up his lie detector to a plant and began to think about what he could do to cause the plant to experience stress. It occurred to him to burn the plant. When he thought of it, the polygraph went wild. Even though Backster had not moved from his seat, the plant sensed his thought and reacted. This book tells the story of what happened that night and for the next 40 years as Backster continued to research at how plants and even your own cells in your body react to your thoughts. It is a fascinating and important book, complete with polygraph tracings and pictures of his experiments.
